The War Within 11.1.7 Puzzle Cartel Chip catch-up

2 min read 0 1

Starting June 10, catch up on Dinars and grab any missing Puzzling Cartel Chips to complete your collection.

Dinar catch-up is coming in The War Within.

Key takeaways:

  • Dinar catch-up will begin on June 10.
  • Missed Dinars can be earned through repeatable quests: Just play LFR until you get all Dinars you missed.
  • Blizzard’s update addresses the missing Dinar catch-up system, which had sparked major backlash.

The War Within Dinar drama is still ongoing. This time, however, we have some good news: Blizzard is fixing the previously nonexistent Dinar catch-up system and will help players reach the full Dinar count. Here’s what all the buzz is about.

Dinar problem in The War Within

Icon of a Puzzling Cartel Chip (Dinar) from WoW: The War Within – a golden coin with a green gem, used as currency in Season 2 progression.

In Season 2 of The War Within, Blizzard introduced a returned currency system called Puzzling Cartel Chips (or Dinars) tied to weekly quests. Read more about it in our full TWW Dinar guide.

While the system was intended to reward consistent participation, it quickly drew criticism due to the absence of a catch-up mechanic. Players could earn three Dinars in the first week through a special quest, and one Dinar per week after that. However, missing even a single weekly quest meant permanently falling behind, as there was no way to recover lost Dinars. This strict system was especially frustrating for players with limited playtime or those managing multiple characters.

What made the issue worse was the contrast with other in-game currencies like Valorstones and Crests, which offer flexible catch-up options. The Dinar system felt punishing in comparison, leading to widespread community backlash. Many players felt blindsided due to a lack of clear communication, while others questioned why Blizzard abandoned more forgiving models seen in past content.

Patch 11.1.7 Dinar catch-up announcement

Dinars catch-up in June 10 TWW Blizzard announcement.

Blizzard has recently addressed player concerns with an important update: starting June 10, players who missed earlier weeks of the Turbo-Boost: Powerhouse Challenges quest will be able to complete those quests retroactively to recover missed Dinars. This new approach introduces a much-needed catch-up system, offering relief to those who fell behind and restoring fairness to the progression path.

Even if you’ve already looted LFR bosses for the week and completed your Turbo-Boost: Powerhouse Challenges quest, you can still go back in and defeat LFR bosses again to earn missing Dinars or collect Dinars for your alts.

Here is Blizzard’s official statement regarding the new Dinar catch-up system:

“With scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we’ll deploy the following hotfix:

  • Quests
    • Players who have not completed the weekly quest “Turbo-Boost: Powerhouse Challenges” every week can now repeat the quest to catch up.”

— Kaivax, Blizzard Community Manager

Conclusion

Some players may feel the update comes too late, arguing that the controversy has already damaged Blizzard’s credibility and trust with the community. Others, however, see it as a step in the right direction: proof that community feedback can still lead to meaningful improvements in the game. Which side are you on?
