MoP Classic pre-patch new features

Here’s a list of all the new features coming to WoW Classic on July 1, ahead of the official Mists of Pandaria Classic launch.
New class – Monk

Monk is a new class available in Mists of Pandaria Classic. It uses a special resource called Chi, which is shared across all three roles: tank, healer, and damage dealer.
- Brewmaster is the tank specialization. It uses a mechanic called Stagger, which turns part of the damage taken into damage over time. Managing this is the main part of the tanking style.
- Mistweaver is the healing specialization. It uses both Mana and Chi. Chi is spent on stronger healing abilities.
- Windwalker is the damage specialization. It uses Energy and Chi. Energy is used for basic attacks, and Chi is used for stronger abilities.
All Monk specializations also use brews as cooldowns. These brews provide different offensive and defensive effects.
All races except Worgen and Goblin can play as Monks in Mists of Pandaria.
New race – Pandaren

The pre-patch doesn’t just bring a new class, it also unlocks a new playable race: the Pandaren.
Until now, Pandarens have lived in isolation, either on the continent of Pandaria or aboard the giant sea turtle Shen-zin Su, home to the Wandering Isle. In the pre-patch, both the Alliance and Horde will reach the Wandering Isle, and the neutral Pandaren must choose a side.
You will begin your journey as a Pandaren on the Wandering Isle. After completing the starting area, you’ll choose to join either the Horde or the Alliance. There are no requirements to unlock this race—once the pre-patch is live, you can create a Pandaren right away.
Pandarens can play as Monks, Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, Priests, Shamans, or Mages in MoP Classic.
Pandaren racials in MoP Classic:
Racial | Description |
---|---|
Bouncy | Take half the falling damage |
Epicurean | Receive double the stats from Well Fed effects |
Gourmand | Cooking skill is increased by 15 |
Inner Peace | Earn twice as much rested experience |
Quaking Palm | Strike the target with lightning speed, incapacitating them for 4 sec, and turns off your attack |
Most important class changes

There are many class changes with the transition from the Cataclysm, and going through the full list can be overwhelming. So here are the most important changes in MoP:
- All classes will receive the new talent trees.
- The Glyph system has been updated. Each specialization now uses 3 major and 3 minor glyphs. Many glyphs are new or have been reworked.
- Feral Druid is now the only DPS spec. A new tank specialization, Guardian Druid, has been introduced as the fourth Druid spec.
- No more secondary weapons. Classes can now use either melee or ranged weapons, but not both. Hunters must equip ranged weapons in their main hand slot, and casters now use wands in the main hand slot.
- Shamans, Druids, and Paladins lose their Relic slot.
- Hunters no longer have a minimum shooting range. They can now use ranged attacks even while in melee range.
- Some classes, such as Hunters, and Shamans, will receive casting abilities that can be used while moving.
MoP new features and changes
Here are the most exciting new features and changes that will affect your gameplay starting with the MoP Pre-Patch:
- Pet Battles are introduced. You can now collect, train, and battle with companion pets in a turn-based system.
- You learn new spells automatically as you level up. There’s no need to visit a class trainer for your abilities.
- Looting is streamlined. When you loot one enemy, all nearby dead enemies will be looted automatically.
- New death rules in dungeons and raids. If a player dies during a boss fight, they cannot release their spirit until the encounter ends.
MoP PvP changes
Here are the most important PvP changes in Mists of Pandaria:
- You can now blacklist two Battlegrounds when queuing for a Random Battleground. These maps will be excluded from your matchmaking pool.
- All Conquest Points will be converted into Honor. Items that were previously sold for Conquest Points are now available for Honor instead.
- A new PvP stat, PvP Power, is introduced. This stat increases the damage you deal to other players in PvP combat.
