Fans petition against WoW Classic changes: Restore Era!
In just over a day, fans’ petition against WoW Classic changes has amassed 1,808 signatures, calling on Blizzard to restore Classic Era to its original state.
The arrival of Patch 1.15.3 introduced several updates to WoW Classic Era, including Warchief’s Blessing for the Alliance, an updated guild interface, and Druids now being able to train Polearms. Some players are intrigued by these changes. Others feel Blizzard is deviating from their promise to keep characters on the new Classic Era realms “just as it was.”
Waves and waves of criticism have been surging across the internet. This resulted in a petition demanding that developers halt changes to Vanilla WoW. Created on July 11, 2024, the petition against WoW Classic changes has quickly gained traction. In less than two days, it has garnered 1,808 signatures, with the number still rising.
“To the passionate few Vanilla WoW enjoyers left, the time is now to come together. This is not just a game to us, it is the game of our generation. We like playing on servers with an authentic Vanilla meta with no changes and when Activision Blizzard launched Classic Era, it was promised to serve as a time capsule to help preserve the game as it was.
If changes are to be made, Seasonal servers such as Season of Mastery and Season of Discovery are the servers where these should be made not Classic Era.”

For many enthusiasts, WoW Classic offers a nostalgic return to the original World of Warcraft experience from nearly 20 years ago. Its appeal lies in its authenticity, with the community valuing the #nochanges philosophy. The recent unexpected alterations, however, risk disrupting this cherished experience. And while changes are inevitable, even we players also change over time, it remains to be seen whether Blizzard will heed the call or continue implementing adjustments to WoW Classic.
