Frustration with ongoing nerfs has led to a strong backlash from players, prompting the studio’s CEO to address the issues. Despite these efforts, discontent remains high, and the Helldivers are protesting. That said, in our humble opinion, this situation could present Arrowhead with an opportunity to introduce a new narrative or game mode that might restore player enthusiasm.

The bots are making big strides towards Super Earth due to the Helldivers’ ongoing riot. On Reddit, Akifumi121 has rallied the remaining Helldivers who are still loyal to Super Earth to join the protest with a Warhammer-40K-inspired post:

“I never wanted this, I never wanted to unleash my legions. Together we banished the bug tyranny of Meridia, but you betrayed me, you betrayed us all. You stole power from the Helldivers and lied to your citizens. Mankind has only one chance to prosper, if you will not seize it then I will.

So let it be war, from the skies of Super Earth to the Galactic rim.

With the Helldivers protesting, the Automatons are making significant advances towards Super Earth. Currently, there are about 38,000 active players, but only around 2,000 are actively risking their Helldivers’ lives to defend Super Earth. This imbalance is raising alarm bells, as the majority of players are deliberately losing battles. If this continues, the very existence of Super Earth could soon be at risk.

It’s certainly disheartening to see Helldivers 2 fall from being one of the top games to one that causes such frustration that players feel compelled to riot. However, as mentioned earlier, this unrest could present an opportunity for Arrowhead to turn things around. The situation offers a compelling narrative possibility and could inspire a new PvP mode. Loyalists could continue their fight to protect Super Earth. Meanwhile, the rioters could be framed as Traitors or Rebels battling against it.
