Nexon releases The First Descendant Patch 1.1.1, which addresses many problems, such as Hailey farming and the difficulty of the new missions.

The First Descendant’s season 1 launch left many players frustrated, particularly with the new invasion missions and the daunting grind of unlocking the new character, Hailey. However, the recent 1.1.1 patch brings several changes that aim to address these pain points.
The First Descendant Patch 1.1.1 main improvements
Hailey farming changes
Although the Hailey grind has been rebalanced, there are still mixed feelings. The amount of materials players can gather has been increased, with 5, 4, and 3 materials awarded per batch instead of 3, 2, and 1. In total, players can earn between 12 and 20 materials daily. This is an improvement, but the system still feels like a drawn-out process with RNG factors involved.
Order of Truth Dungeon changes
The patch fixes issues with the Arche Pillars, including zero-symbol displays and awkward orientations. The pillars now face inward toward the map, and the symbol designs have been simplified to just four, resembling PlayStation buttons for easier recognition. Tumors are now significantly less frustrating, taking only three hits to destroy, and they no longer regenerate.
Movement speed and pathing for the Ancestor Drone have been adjusted to be less erratic, making it easier to manage. Symbols now appear vertically, matching the streamlined approach used for Arche Pillars. Tumors in this dungeon now only require two hits to break after the symbols are matched, allowing players to complete each room in one attempt.
Legion of Darkness Dungeon changes
Tile positions have been moved to improve visibility, and symbols have been simplified to just four, again modeled after PlayStation buttons. Tiles now take just three seconds to capture, and the removal of suicide bombers adds much-needed pacing. Fewer enemy raiders capture tiles, and symbols remain visible longer, making it less chaotic to manage objectives. Additional Central Control Units were added for improved symbol spotting.
Legion of Immortality Dungeon changes
One major frustration is that the time limit on artificial brain input has been removed. Players now need to collect 20 inputs, which can hold up to 15 at once, allowing smoother progression through the dungeon.
Invasion Monsters changes
Invasion monsters, criticized for their overwhelming presence, have been nerfed significantly. There are now fewer monster spawns, reduced guided projectile usage, and less reliance on skill use during immunity phases.
Inversion Reinforcement changes
Positive effects from reinforcements have been buffed, while all negative effects have been removed, making progression less punishing.
While the patch is an improvement, the core issues with these dungeons remain. The changes make the tasks less tedious but don’t necessarily make them more enjoyable. Reducing symbols and enemies may make the gameplay less frustrating, but it will not make it more fun.
The Hailey material grind, though marginally improved, still feels frustrating. The character is supposed to be the update’s highlight, but many players are not interested in the grind for her.
Ultimately, while this patch addresses some complaints, it doesn’t fully resolve the underlying problems with season 1’s content. Further refinement, especially in terms of dungeon design and farming systems, will be needed to bring the game closer to its potential.
