220 employees lost their jobs. Bungie lost 17% of its workforce. Destiny 3 has been shelved. No major expansions for Destiny 2 are planned. So… what’s next? Destiny 2 future seems gloomy, and fans of the game can’t help but discuss what lies ahead for their favorite games across social platforms.
Earlier, we reported that Destiny 2 will no longer receive major expansions. Instead, the game will offer players two Content Packs and two Episodes in the future. And now, Destiny 2 famous leaker Liz has provided more in-depth details on what to expect from these Content Packs and Episodes.

Please be aware that the information you’re about to read is based on rumors and has not been officially confirmed by Bungie. We will keep you updated if any new developments arise.
What’s next for Destiny 2: Yearly Content Packs and Episodes
As revealed by Liz on Discord, players can expect two Content Packs and Episodes each year. These releases will occur approximately simultaneously and span six months each. However, these packs won’t match the scale of The Final Shape.
Adjustments to seasonal content
For Destiny 2 future seasonal narrative, there won’t be weekly story beats. The story won’t be released all at once either. Each season will start with a single introductory mission that sets the stage for the season’s themes and objectives. Players can expect traditional character interactions throughout. However, that’s it. Extensive narrative and questlines will be absent.
When it comes to Destiny 2 future seasonal loop, players will begin by tackling base-level activities to earn seasonal gear. As they advance, they’ll take on more challenging activities to boost their score and obtain higher-level gear. This progression is designed to prepare them for the upcoming Rally Event.
All in all, players will still receive new activities, weapons, and armor. So, while the narrative will suffer a huge blow, Destiny 2’s gameplay will remain largely the same.
Destiny 2 Rally Event
The Destiny 2 Rally Event will take place twice each season, meaning four times a year. Spanning a week, each Rally will introduce a variety of new activities, including one for Fireteam, one for PvP, and one for Pinnacle.
During these events, players will be restricted to using only seasonal weapons and armor. The Rallies will feature tougher versions of seasonal activities. However, this also means that the rewards will be much better for those who rise to the challenge.
Needless to say, all that is listed above isn’t what the Destiny 2 community expects to see coming to their favorite game. What are your thoughts on these rumors and the current situation with Destiny 2 and Bungie? Share your opinions with us in the comments!
