Destiny 2 Orders explained

Bungie is replacing the old Bounty and Seasonal Challenge system with Destiny 2 Orders. This new feature aims to make earning rewards simpler and more consistent for every type of player.
Orders are straightforward objectives that reward you for just playing the game. You’ll get XP, Bright Dust, and other rewards without worrying about chasing specific bounties or changing your loadout. Once you log in, Orders are given automatically, no need to pick them up manually.
Orders appear in the Seasonal Hub, under the new Overview tab. You’ll see your active Orders, daily and weekly quests, and progress all in one place. Common Orders are usually tied to your current gear or activity, such as defeating enemies or using specific weapon types. If you don’t like one, you can swap it for another using Glimmer, though reroll costs increase with each replacement per day.
Team play has been improved too. When you play with other Guardians, their progress helps complete your Common Orders. While assists give slightly less progress than personal kills, it still encourages cooperation instead of competition.
Crucible players get a special bonus: after each match, a few Common Orders will automatically complete. This means you’ll keep earning rewards even if you focus on objectives like capturing zones instead of just getting kills.
Common Orders
The most common type of Orders will appear constantly. Each time you complete one, a new Order will replace it. Common Orders are easy to complete. They reward a small amount of Bright Dust (10). Finishing them also gives you a chance to receive a Legendary Order instead. A meter on the Overview page shows your chance of upgrading a Common Order to a Legendary one. When the bar is full, your upgrade chance is very high.
Legendary Orders
The next tier of Orders offers greater rewards, such as 100 Bright Dust, but they’re more challenging to complete. Upon completion, there’s a chance to unlock the final tier of Orders.
Exotic Orders
Exotic Orders grant twice as much Bright Dust, but you’ll only receive a few of them each Season.
Orders Bright Dust cap

Each completed Order rewards you with Bright Dust, but there are limits to how much you can earn.
Common and Legendary Orders provide 10 and 100 Bright Dust respectively, with a weekly cap of 1,000. You can exceed this limit slightly by completing additional Legendary Orders, which grant a small bonus amount (10).
Exotic Orders offer higher rewards, capped at 6,000 Bright Dust per season. Completing more Exotic Orders beyond the cap grants only 30 extra Bright Dust each.
Bright Dust farm limitations
The Orders system doesn’t grant as much Bright Dust per week or month as many players hoped. Even with regular play and completing plenty of Orders, you can earn around 5,000 Bright Dust per month. That’s not much, considering most items cost between 1,250 and 2,500 Bright Dust or more.
However, developers confirmed that Orders aren’t the only source of Bright Dust in the new system. As part of the overall Bright Dust income, they still contribute a fair share, especially if other sources remain generous. So, a lot depends on how much Bright Dust other sources will provide.
