Brawl Stars new Brawler Kenji: everything we know
Legendary new brawler Kenji is finally out. Let’s take a closer look at him, his stats, and his skills.
Table of Contents
Announced earlier in the August Brawl Talk, Kenji is the 84th Brawler to be added to the game. He is also the 12th Legendary Brawler in the game, which is the highest rarity in Brawl Stars. Due to his rarity and the fact that recent new Brawlers have all been OP, everyone expects Kenji to be OP as well. So let’s take a look at him to decide if the expectations have been made.
New Brawler Kenji: overview
Kenji Attack Dash ’n’ Slash
Kenji’s attack alternates between a dash and a slash. First, he dashes a short distance, damaging any enemies in his path. He can only stop the dash early by hitting a wall. Kenji swings his katana in a wide arc in his second attack, hitting nearby enemies.
Kenji Super Slashimi
Kenji throws a fish over obstacles, then slashes twice in an “X” pattern where it lands. Enemies hit by both slashes take double damage. During his Super, Kenji becomes immune to all damage except status effects and damage over time. Once the Super ends, he returns to his starting spot.
Kenji stats
Kenji has average health, with 7600 HP on level 11. Both his attacks are also quite low on damage. Dash deals 1500, and Slash deals 2000. This is much lower than Mortis and Bibi, who are the most similar Brawlers to Kenji. His Super’s damage is 2600 per slice. However, it is hard to hit the target perfectly two times, so the damage output may be quite irregular.
Overall, Kenji’s stats aren’t anything to be proud of. However, they are not bad, and he is definitely stronger than most Brawlers. Depending on how well other Brawlers can counter him, he may be a B or A tier on our Brawl Stars Tier List.
Kenji Gadgets
Dashi Dash
When activated, Kenji’s next 3 seconds of attacks are all replaced by his dash move. This is a great way to get close to an enemy or an objective quickly. However, as an escape tool, it is pretty mediocre, and other Brawlers may have abilities to catch up with you.
Hosomaki Healing
Kenji heals 75% of the damage he took in the last 3 seconds. A red bar appears on his health bar, showing how much he can recover when using the Gadget. The more damage he took, the more he heals. This Gadget is better used after a heavy enemy attack with much damage. However, you will have to use this Gadget pretty quickly after this.
Kenji Star Powers
Studied the Blade
Kenji’s Super gains a 30% increased slice range, but this doesn’t boost the chances of hitting enemies with both slashes.
Nigiri Nemesis
If Kenji avoids damage for 5 seconds, he gains a shield that blocks 90% of the next enemy projectile’s damage. This shield activates before any Shield Gear effects. This may be extremely useful when an enemy tries sneaking up on you.
Kenji Trait
When Kenji damages an enemy Brawler or their spawnables, he heals for 35% of the damage he inflicted.
How to unlock Kenji
New Brawler Kenji is currently in early access. This means he is only available as part of the bundle for now. The Bundle includes pins, gems, and blings. However, it is highly advised not to buy this bundle even if you think you can afford it because it is not worth the money.
Kenji will be available for everyone on October 3.
