A way to play Ethereal in The War Within Patch 11.2

The new Ethereal Gleeful Glamour in Patch 11.2 lets players transform into an ethereal — a race that’s never been playable before. The effect lasts anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the Item Level of Ethereal Gleeful Glamour. Effect is purely cosmetic and doesn’t provide any gameplay changes.
Note
Gleeful Glamours are Enchanting items introduced in The War Within that let players temporarily change their character’s appearance. For example, there’s a Gleeful Glamour: Human, which lets your character take on the appearance of a human!
Ethereals are mysterious, energy-wrapped beings who debuted in The Burning Crusade. Once flesh-and-blood traders and explorers, they lost their physical forms when their homeworld was destroyed. Now held together by enchanted wrappings and arcane tech, ethereals are known for their deep ties to magic, shady dealings, and as transmog vendors.
Ethereals as Allied Race in WoW

This has already kicked off some speculation in the community. If we can play as Ethereals temporarily, could a permanent version be coming later? Maybe as an Allied Race during the Midnight pre-patch or later in the Worldsoul Saga? Nothing’s confirmed, but this as well as Patch 11.1 new Ethereal models can hint onto something.
Although the idea of Ethereals as Allied Race in WoW may seem enticing, we currently don’t have crucial proofs. The new models although definitely high quality but don’t hint at Allied Race. New models don’t have many of the players’ animations like emotes, or class-ability related. We also haven’t had a glimpse of any armor sets for Ethereals; currently we’ve only seen their base in‑game models.
Though, that didn’t stop Dracthyr from being added, after all. And with Blizzard hinting at new class concepts in a not so long ago poll, maybe Ethereals could arrive alongside new class. It’s wishful thinking for now, but not off the table. Another, more likely speculation is the addition of a third Demon Hunter spec in The War Within Patch 11.2. Ethereal lore hints for Allied Race addition
The Ethereals have long walked the line between neutrality and involvement. While groups like the Consortium value trade, others like the Ethereum embraced the Void to fight greater threats. After battling alongside Azeroth’s champions against Dimensius back in TBC, some may now see joining a faction as a logical next step in surviving what’s to come.
Locus-Walker, who guided Alleria on her path with the Void, showed that some Ethereals are willing to work with mortals. With the cosmic war escalating, a splinter group may finally choose to stand with the Horde or Alliance—not out of loyalty, but out of purpose.
These may be vague hints, but combined with the unfolding storylines in Patch 11.2, they could be laying the groundwork for Ethereals to eventually join the WoW Allied Races roster. For now, all we can do is wait for the Midnight announcement to confirm or rule out these theories.
