Why should you choose Jewelcrafting as your profession?
Jewelcrafting remains a valuable profession for both utility and profit. Meta gems like Culminating Blasphemite and Cubic Blasphemia make a comeback in The War Within, giving Jewelcrafters an excellent opportunity to charge premium prices for top-tier gem cuts.
While we might not see jewelry on the same level as the Elemental Lariat again, The War Within introduces some intriguing new recipes, such as Binding of Binding. These items are expected to be powerful, so keep an eye on BiS lists to spot what’s in demand. As always, Jewelcrafting’s core focus will be on standard gem cuts like Versatile Onyx and Quick Ruby. These dual-stat gems will be in high demand since everyone will need them!
What is the best combo with Jewelcrafting in WoW?
Combining Mining and Jewelcrafting is a great choice for several reasons. First, mining your own materials saves you gold since you don’t need to buy them at the Auction House. The ores you collect can be turned into valuable gems used for gear or crafted into rings, necklaces, and trinkets, which can sell for a lot of gold. This is especially useful when new content drops and the demand for crafted items and gems increases among players.
As you level up in Mining and Jewelcrafting, you’ll unlock more advanced and valuable recipes. This allows to adapt to market trends — if a certain gem or item becomes popular, you can focus on mining and crafting it to keep earning gold.
The War Within Jewelcrafting specializations
At level 25, you’ll unlock Jewelcrafting specializations. You can eventually learn all three, so don’t worry about your first choice. You’ll need 50 skill points for the second specialization and 75 for the third. However, be mindful of how you use your Jewelcrafting Knowledge Points. It’s best not to rush spending these points unless you have a specific plan. Remember, Knowledge Points are scarce and always in demand. You can always level up your Jewelcrafting and allocate your Knowledge Points later.
Gemcutting
Gemcutting is essential for crafting gems and offers 12 new recipes to master, including rare cuts.
Jewelrycrafting
Jewelrycrafting focuses on making items such as rings, amulets, and professional accessories.
Shaping
Shaping focuses on creating better reagents and prospecting. The Prospecting tree is essential because investing points in it can significantly increase your gem yield, possibly doubling it when fully developed.
Approximate materials required
Here is a complete list of the materials needed to reach level 55. The options for levels 50-100 aren’t included due to the many alternatives available. Quality doesn’t matter; buy the cheapest.

The War Within Jewelcrafting guide: Leveling
Draenei characters get a +5 bonus due to their passive ability, while Kul Tiran characters receive a +2 bonus. Higher Jewelcrafting skills allow recipes to remain orange longer, enabling you to save gold by using lower-level recipes to gain more points.
Each time you craft an item for the first time, you’ll earn one Khaz Algar Jewelcrafting Knowledge talent point. This talent is capped weekly from other activities, so it’s efficient to use this guide. By following it, you can maximize your First Craft bonus from recipes that still provide skill points, rather than returning to craft lower-level items later.

55 – 80
If you chose Gemcutting as your first specialization and have unlocked a gem cut, consider crafting a few and selling them at the Auction House. If they sell well, you can craft up to level 80. They turn yellow at level 70, green at 75, and grey at 80. If you haven’t invested any points in Gemcutting, skip this section and move on to the next.
Leveling Jewelcrafting to 100
There are several ways to reach 100 depending on the recipes you have. Remember to learn the Algari Amber Prism recipe from your trainer at skill level 50. It has a 1-day cooldown but consistently grants 2 skill points up to level 80.
Blasphemite gems
Crafting Blasphemite gems is the most efficient method to reach level 100, as each gem provides 3 skill points. These top-tier gems are also easier to sell, allowing you to recover some of your investment. However, acquiring the recipes can be challenging since they are random drops from dungeons, and their rarity isn’t well-documented yet, which could make them costly. Initially, Blasphemite might also be expensive until Alchemists begin to produce it in large quantities.
Item | Reagents | Recipe source |
Culminating Blasphemite | 1x Blasphemite, 24x Crushed Gemstones, 1x Engraved Gemcutter | The War Within dungeons |
Elusive Blasphemite | 1x Blasphemite, 24x Crushed Gemstones, 1x Engraved Gemcutter | The War Within dungeons |
Insightful Blasphemite | 1x Blasphemite, 24x Crushed Gemstones, 1x Engraved Gemcutter | The War Within dungeons |
There’s also a fourth gem, Cubic Blasphemia, which turns yellow at 75, green at 77, and grey at 80. It’s not as strong as the other three gems, so its popularity is uncertain. Its price might drop, making it less profitable to sell.
Cubic Blasphemia | 2x Null Stone, 1x Engraved Gemcutter, 2x Inverted Prism | Sold by Griftah in Dornogal Cost: 250 gold |
Completing Crafting Orders for skill points
All of these recipes need Bind on Pickup (BoP) crafting materials that you can’t buy at the Auction House. You’ll need to use the crafting order system to level up with these recipes.
Epic Necks and Rings
Every necklace and ring recipe needs a Spark of Omens and can only be leveled up through the crafting order system. Each recipe grants 3 skill points until you reach level 90. After level 90, the recipes turn yellow and only give one skill point, so you’ll need to complete many crafting orders to reach level 100.
Item | Recipe source |
Amulet of Earthen Craftsmanship | Specialization: Jewelrycrafting – Amulets |
Ring of Earthen Craftsmanship | Specialization: Jewelrycrafting – Rings |
Fractured Gemstone Locket | Can drop from chests in Delves |
Binding of Binding | Can drop from Theater Troupe’s Trove (Weekly event) |
Profession Equipment
Each of these grants you 2 skill points up to a maximum of 90 points, after which they become less effective. Each requires 300x Artisan’s Acuity, so it’s best not to use your own materials. Instead, use crafting orders.
Item | Profession | Recipe source |
Enchanter’s Crystal | Enchanting | Vendor: Lyrendal Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity |
Novelist’s Specs | Inscription | Vendor: Lyrendal Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity |
Forger’s Font Inspector | Inscription | Vendor: Lyrendal Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity |
Extravagant Loupes | Jewelcrafting | Vendor: Lyrendal Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity |
Public, NPC and Personal Crafting Orders
Once you get your recipes, you can start looking for Crafting Orders.
Public Orders
When you open the Crafting Orders tab, click “Search” in the top left corner of the Public Orders tab to see the available orders; they won’t appear automatically. You might notice few crafting orders as they are often quickly completed after posting.
Public crafting orders are not very popular in Dragonflight, and it’s unlikely this will change with The War Within. Most players prefer guild or personal orders for better control over the quality and materials of items. The unpredictable nature of public orders turns many away, leaving few public orders available.
Additionally, Public Orders are not cross-realm, meaning you’ll only see orders from players in your own realm. If you’re on a realm with a small population, you may find very few or no Public Orders at all.
NPC Orders
The new NPC crafting orders simplify leveling by often giving you tasks to create epic armor. However, you might need more Knowledge Points to complete some of these tasks. These orders are unique to each player, meaning no one else can take them. Keep in mind, though, that these orders are random, and you may not always get tasks for recipes you know how to craft.
Personal Orders
To get more Personal Orders, promote your rank 5 crafting services on the trade channel. Focus on the items you can craft at this high quality. Also, watch the Dornogal trade channel for players searching for the items you can make.
PvP Gem Recipes
These PvP gems grant 2 skill points until level 80, after which they turn yellow, continuing to provide skill points up to level 100. However, from level 90 onward, they become green. If you’re crafting these to sell for gold, you can level up to 100, but the progress will slow down significantly near the end. Each gem requires a Vicious Bloodstone, which is not bound on pickup, so you can purchase them at the Auction House. They’re also available from Hotharn in Dornogal for 2500 Honor each.
Item | Reagents | Recipe source |
Determined Bloodstone | 1x Vicious Bloodstone, 12x Crushed Gemstones 1x Engraved Gemcutter | Sold by Hotharn in Dornogal for 7500x Honor |
Enduring Bloodstone | 1x Vicious Bloodstone, 12x Crushed Gemstones 1x Engraved Gemcutter | Sold by Hotharn in Dornogal for 7500x Honor |
Cognitive Bloodstone | 1x Vicious Bloodstone, 12x Crushed Gemstones 1x Engraved Gemcutter | Sold by Hotharn in Dornogal for 7500x Honor |
Darkmoon Faire
When the Darkmoon Faire is active, you can earn 2 skill points and 3 knowledge points by completing a brief quest from Chronos titled Keeping the Faire Sparkling. It’s best to leave this quest as late as possible to maximize the benefit from the extra skill points.
