Midnight Tier set collecting changes simplify transmog farming — unlock Mythic and instantly get Heroic, Normal, and LFR appearances.

Key takeaways

  • Higher difficulty unlocks lower ones: Mythic unlocks everything, Heroic unlocks Normal + LFR, and Normal unlocks LFR.
  • Elite PvP and Gladiator excluded: These sets will still require the old, traditional unlock methods.
  • Less farming, more freedom: Players can focus on their preferred difficulty without running every raid tier for appearances.

One of the biggest quality-of-life updates for transmog collectors is arriving with Midnight. Fully collecting a Class Set appearance on a higher difficulty will now automatically unlock all lower difficulty variants of that same set.

Now let’s view what Midnight bring to the table.

Midnight Tier set collecting change explained

(An example of how Midnight Tier set collecting change will work)

Currently, collectors have to farm each difficulty level separately — LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic — to complete their appearance collections. This has often left players feeling obligated to run multiple versions of the same raid each week just to chase coveted looks. With this update, if you earn the Mythic set, you’ll instantly unlock Heroic, Normal, and LFR appearances as well.

If you unlock the Heroic recolor, you’ll also automatically gain access to the Normal and LFR variants. Here’s how the system will work:

Heroic Tier SetNormal, and LFR Tier sets
Normal Tier SetLFR Tier set
LFR Tier SetJust LFR set

Note

This change does not apply to Elite PvP or Gladiator tier sets, which will continue to use their traditional unlock methods.

This change addresses one of the most-requested transmog updates in recent years and is expected to drastically reduce repetitive farming while letting players focus on the content and difficulty they actually enjoy. No more unnecessary LFR queues just to pick up missing pieces after clearing tougher modes!
