What are Dawncrests

Dawncrests are newly implemented crests specifically for Midnight Season 1; they are the key currency used to upgrade your gear in Midnight. However, there are several key changes to the Crest system compared to what we had in TWW.
- Dawncrests changes: No longer we have Gilded, Weathered, or Carves crests. Now crests are tied to you gear tier.
- Fixed amount required: Crests required for upgrade is fixed to 10, so if you want to up your 4/6 gear item to 6/6 you will spend 20 Crests. Here’s how it works:
- 1/6 -> 2/6 = 10 Crests
- 2/6 -> 3/6 = 20 Crests
- 3/6 -> 4/6 = 30 Crests
- 4/6 -> 5/6 = 40 Crests
- 5/6 -> 6/6 = 50 Crests

What is the weekly limit on Dawncrests
Each week in Midnight Season 1, you’re allowed to earn up to 100 Crests of each gear track.
There’s a catch-up system in place: if you’ve missed previous weeks of Season 1 content, your weekly cap increases accordingly. For example, by Week 4, the cumulative cap for Crests would be 400 each, allowing you to earn extra to make up for lost time.
To check your current crest progress, you can look in your currency tab (Shift + B → Currency). If you’re close to the cap and need more upgrades, consider trading lower-tier crests up through the Crest Exchange in Silvermoon.
Where to spend Dawncrests

You can spend Dawncrests at the gear upgrade vendors, Cuzolth and Vaskarn. Cuzolth upgrades your item levels, while Vaskarn lets you trade Crests. You can find them in Silvermoon.

You can also trade lower-tier Crests for higher-tier ones, but this system is tied to your gear progression, specifically to certain achievements, such as Carved of the Undermine that was tied to Season 2 of TWW.
The exact item levels for these gear upgrades and the official names of the related achievements are not yet confirmed. We’ll update the article with accurate information as soon as Patch 12.0 goes live.
Midnight Dawncrests sources

Midnight makes farming Crests both more restrictive and more streamlined. You now earn Crests tied directly to the upgrade track of the activity you complete. In practice, this means that running Tier 8 Bountiful Delves rewards you with Hero track gear and matching Hero track Dawncrests.
Here is the full table for Dawncrests sources.

Additionally, the amount of Crests rewarded can vary depending on the activity’s difficulty level or how well it’s completed (e.g., beating a Mythic+ timer vs. failing it). Always check the specifics of each source to understand the exact Crest yield.
As you can see, the final two tiers of Dawbrests are difficult to obtain, especially for non-hardcore players. If you’re looking for an easier way to farm Gilded and Runed Crests, consider checking WoW boost to see if it’s the right option for you.

Comments
last thing this post helped me realize I do not need any gilded crest or enchanted crest for I will not be getting any myth gear. champion and some hero drops are good enough for the time I spend.
Thank you that was the best breakdown for crest,from any source. I am a solo player,that does Bountiful Delves tier 8 + with vault drops. I do not craft and want nothing to do with it.
Hey, glad you found this guide helpful! If you’re running Delves and relying on vault drops, you might find our guides on the best curios for Delves and the Delves tier list pretty useful. Happy grinding!
Hello. Since Patch 11.0.7 the number of Crests needed for exchanging to higher ones changed from 90 down to 45 Crests.
So please update your article to “If you own a surplus of 45x Carved Harbinger Crests, you can purchase a Celebratory Pack of Runed Harbinger Crests.” for example. All Crest cost have been reduced. Otherwise its a full comprehensive guide and i thank you for the effort!
Greetings, Kentrickz! Thanks for your useful insight. We added you to our contributors list.
