As reported in June, Molten Core will have two new difficulty levels. We only knew them as Heat Level 2 and Heat Level 3 back then. But now, Blizzard has released a post detailing what we can expect from these new Heat Levels. Below you’ll find all the essential information about SoD Molten Core raid, its new Heat mechanic, information on the new boss, rewards, and more.
SoD Molten Core Heat Levels, Fire Resistance, and Rewards
In SoD Phase 4, Molten Core now features three Heat Levels: Sweltering, Blistering, and Molten. You can choose the difficulty at the start of each run and adjust it later if needed.
How to set and change SoD Molten Core Heat Levels
To set the Heat Level for your raid, speak with the Hydraxian Waterlords NPC at the entrance. Each level escalates the challenge, so choose wisely.
If the heat becomes too intense, there are two ways to switch Heat Levels:
- Speak with the NPC at the entrance. Make sure that you’re out of combat.
- Use Aqual Quintessence and speak with the NPCs that spawn.
Sweltering Heat
Difficulty: Heat Level 1. Easiest, suitable for less prepared groups.
Recommended Fire Resistance: Minimal.
Gear and rewards: Standard.
Blistering Heat
Difficulty: Heat Level 2. Intermediate difficulty requiring moderate preparation.
Recommended Fire Resistance: +96 or higher.
Gear and rewards: Similar to Sweltering Heat, but most bosses will drop additional items.
Molten Heat
Difficulty: Heat Level 3. Most challenging, for skilled groups with high Fire Resistance.
Recommended Fire Resistance: +226 or higher.
Gear and rewards: Similar to those from Blistering Heat, but with additional items and unique weapon cosmetics available later in the raid.
SoD Molten Core new boss: The Molten Core
The new 11th boss of SoD Molten Core has been revealed to be The Molten Core—a massive, blazing orb that emerges from the lava where the Firelord once resided. Boasting 4 million health and a resource bar that can reach 1,000, The Molten Core poses a significant challenge with various spells like:
Primal Flame Elementals will also be quite a thorn since they target the Hydraxian Firefighters who are assisting you in the battle against The Molten Core.
You can only engage in the encounter with The Molten Core on Heat Level 3, Molten Heat, so be sure to equip ample Fire Resistance. Although the boss will drop tier gear tokens and other items, there are no unique or exclusive rewards tied to The Molten Core.
