Just before the Overwatch 2 Transformers collab kicks in on July 9, Blizzard shares an exclusive July 7 sneak peek of a thematic comic on its official X/ Twitter account.

While the details of the upcoming Transformers collaboration are still mysterious, we have some hints and speculations regarding the characters who will be part of this event next week, thanks to the Transmission comic. The main character of the comic is Ramattra, the founder of Null Sector and an Omnic extremist. Feeling disenchanted by his people’s loss in battle, he is approached by Megatron

The Decepticon leader sees great potential in our hero and offers to help him, as they share a mutual goal. When Ramattra embraces the power of the Decepticons, he becomes Megatron’s avatar in the Overwatch 2 universe. According to the comic, it seems like this hero will be the main villain and will even get a cool Megatron-themed skin on July 9.

Like in other tales of the battle between good and evil, we can expect the emergence of additional heroes. As the story concludes, three Autobots — Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Arcee — appear. Recognizing Megatron’s malicious intentions, they seek assistance from Overwatch agents by offering them their power. Although Blizzard did not directly say any additional details, players are already discussing which heroes can get themed skins this week.

For instance, a Reddit user named TRF102162 shares their artwork with the community, suggesting what Bastion would look like if he received a Shockwave skin. Alongside this creative idea, other Reddit users, FGC_Orion and Upper-Inspection-796, exchange their opinions and predictions.

As an example, it would be fantastic if Reinhardt received an Optimus Prime skin. Even though he is not a robot, he would be the perfect fit due to his brave nature and the fact that his hammer turns into an axe in some of his skins, just like one of Prime’s signature weapons.

Another instance involves Tracer, who may receive a skin resembling Arcee or Bumblebee if Blizzard does not assign one to Bastion, as they are both iconic characters. Furthermore, there is a desire among players for a Starscream-themed skin for either Pharah, Echo, or D.Va. Since Pharah and D.Va already have licensed Porsche-themed skins, Echo may be the favored choice.

While the community is buzzing with excitement, there are also concerns about the potential cost of future skins. For instance, another Reddit user Dwarfz, speculates that Blizzard might charge $20 for a single skin or even $40 for a bundle. It is disheartening and very unfair how Blizzard capitalizes on FOMO and players’ love for their favorite franchise, as Dwarfz shares.

Since Overwatch 2 is free-to-play, Blizzard will charge for these skins. Still, there is always a slight chance to obtain one for free, just like with the Le Sserafim and Cowboy Bebop collaborations, where players had the opportunity to get a Junkrat and Hammond skin for free.

On July 8, Overwatch Cavalry shared an animated trailer on X/ Twitter, unveiling new costumes for Reinhardt, Bastion, Illari, and Ramattra, which finally put an end to previous speculations.

As the release of the new Overwatch 2 Transformers collaboration approaches, are you excited about it? Do you think there will be a themed in-game event where we could earn some nice rewards? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
