Overwatch 2: PvE Hero Mode Canceled, Fans Are Not Happy
Blizzard announced the cancellation of the much-anticipated PvE Hero mode for Overwatch 2. Needless to say, fans are less than happy with how the situation unfolds.
Disappointment is spreading like wildfire within the Overwatch 2 community. It all started with the recent Twitch stream about the game’s content roadmap. There, Executive Producer Jared Neuss confirmed some disheartening news. Despite being one of the most awaited upcoming features, the PvE Hero Mode can’t escape the fate of being scrapped.
Since its grand reveal at BlizzCon 2019, fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of said mode. So, the sudden abandonment of these features has left many perplexed and unsure about what lies ahead. In response, he explained the team’s challenges and shed more light on their decision.
According to Neuss, the team has been successful in creating fantastic content. But the challenge lies in putting them all together to meet Blizzard’s high standards. Said task requires enormous effort, and there is no end in sight. As a result, the team faced a tough decision: persisting with uncertain progress in PvE or prioritizing the live game and player community. After thinking it through, they have decided that the initial plan for PvE, which included a special hero mode with talent trees and long-term progression, will not be made a reality.
That, however, isn’t enough to quell the frustration brewing within the community. As a result, players are venting their grievances on social media.
The termination of the PvE Hero mode is undoubtedly a major setback and a grand letdown. Yet, Overwatch 2 still seems to hold a bright prospect. Season 6 is touted as the biggest one yet in the game’s history. It features captivating story missions and the introduction of a new support.
Furthermore, players can look forward to the developers breathing new life into the beloved tank, Roadhog, with a planned revamp later this year.
What do you think about this whole situation? Is that enough to compensate for axing the PvE Hero Mode? What will happen next to Overwatch? Let us know in the comment!
