The First Descendant tier list criteria
This tier list is divided into five tiers. S is considered the best and F the worst. Here is a quick explanation of every tier.
- S-tier — Best Descendants in the game, they have excellent damage capabilities that allow them to perform in any circumstances.
- A-tier — Overall, they are great characters but usually only perform great in specific scenarios and are not as versatile as S-tier.
- B-tier — Middle of the road, the characters here are not flawed but not as strong as those in higher tiers.
- C-tier — Characters who seem good on paper but don’t fit in the current meta are mostly reserved for support as there is not much need for a support role.
- F-tier — Characters with the worst performance right now. You can still play them, but it will be significantly more challenging, especially in solo scenarios.

To understand why each character is placed in their respective tier, we’ve provided detailed information on our The First Descendant tier list below.
S-tier
Ultimate Bunny
The meta-dominating Descendant Bunny in the community is the best unit in the game. She provides high mobility and, most importantly, massive damage output. She is perfect at dealing with hordes of enemies due to her AOE skill, which creates a ring of electricity around her. Great build allows Bunny not to shoot at all and just run around dealing damage with this skill.
Ultimate Bunny has a significant advantage over its standard counterpart, however. Ultimate Bunny can utilize “High Voltage build” and destroy bosses in seconds. By doing double jumps close to the boss, you will accumulate energy buffs that will make Bunny one of the best DPS units in the game.
Gley
Gley is another great DPS unit you can use if Bunny is not to your liking. Right now, she works around the on-field objects that allow her to heal massively. Healing will enable her to alternate between her two states without any problems.
Ultimate Gley
Ultimate Gley is lower because her standard form does more massacre damage with the identical builds. However, this is a slight difference so you can use both gleys comfortably.
Sharen
The last Descendant on our S-tier is Sharen. She is not the choice you would pick while looking at her kit. However, Sharen has proven her placement in practice. Sharen can perform well with great builds compared to Bunny or Gley. However, she outperforms both of them in boss battles. The sniper build for Sharen, paired with the best sniper rifle, Afterglow Sword, can finish any boss in the game in one second. Sharen would be in her tier above everyone else if we only considered boss battles.
A-tier
Bunny
As previously said, Bunny is an excellent DPS unit. However, the standard Bunny is not as good against bosses as the Ultimate version.
Freyna
The best builds for Freyna revolve around stacking her DOT damage on the enemies. This works best against bosses. She also performs exceptionally well in AOE. The main reason Freyna is not higher on this list is that to reach significant damage, you need to invest a lot of grinding into her stats to min-max them to perfection. The units above are not as picky in terms of their stats.
Hailey
The latest Descendant to release so far, Hailey is already proving to be a formidable boss destroyer. Only in a few days were players able to create great builds for Hailey, killing every boss in just two shots. Of course, it’s not as great as a one-shot Sharen build, but it would not be surprising if pros discover better builds later. So far, she lacks AOE potential to jump straight into the S tier. You can check out how to unlock Hailey in our guide.
Ultimate Lepic
Lepic is known for his ability to melt bosses. By stacking burns on the boss, Lepic can achieve massive damage in no time while not doing much. However, the newest boss is specifically made to counter Lepic. And this will be the norm for new bosses. Lepic might fall lower on the list as more bosses emerge.
Lepic
It’s the same as Ultimate Lepic but with slightly worse damage output.
Ultimate Valby
Valby is a must-have unit for farming. Her farming builds allow her to gather XP and items in massive amounts. This is possible due to Valby’s clean-up skills. Clean-up makes Valby go into a liquified state. In this state, Valby is moving fast and leaves a water trail on the ground that damages enemies. By finding a farming spot and going on a specific route, you can keep this water 24/7. This tactic can also be paired with Viessa or Bunny, as Valby gives buffs to electro and ice damage.
Valby
It’s the same as Ultimate Valby but with slightly worse damage output.
B-tier
Ultimate Ajax
Building Ajax is pretty simple. You just stack a lot of HP and leave some space for damage output. Yes, Ajax will not one-shot bosses, but this is not what Ajax is for. Ajax is a character created for survival. He is a tank that can help your team to survive longer. Ajax also has decent enough damage to solo the content due to how much HP you have.
Ajax
It’s the same as Ultimate Ajax but a little bit weaker.
Ultimate Viessa
In the right hands, Viessa is a great character. Top builds allow her to spam her skills while constantly dealing with massive damage. However, the main problem is that it requires too much time and investment compared to other characters to get to that enormous damage. Some players may even be interested in this kind of challenge.
Viessa
It’s the same as Ultimate Viessa but a little weaker.
Jayber
Jayber’s playstyle revolves around his turrets. You’re supposed to constantly keep up the turret and keep the enemies distracted from you. The main problem is the fact that the turret’s taunt does not work all the time. This and his low personal damage keep him from being in the top tiers.
C-tier
Luna
Luna is one of the best supports in the game. Unfortunately, being the best here doesn’t mean much. Yes, Luna can give significant buffs to the team, but she needs a very highly invested build. She must also refrain from fighting to perform her buffs without getting hit. It is much more helpful to bring another DPS unit instead, or at least someone like Jayber or Ajax. Buffers may be in demand, with more complex content coming into the game. She is not in the F tier only because she performs well in her role.
Enzo
Another supporting character, Enzo, faces the same problem as Luna. Using a DPS is just better. He can also buff himself, but Bunny or Gley are better characters to invest in in the meta-perspective. If you’re an Enzo fan, you can still do a lot of solo content, but it will take you noticeably longer.
Blair
Blair is the only non-supportive character in the C-tier. He is an excellent unit for AOE farming, but his damage is much worse compared to Valby or Bunny, who don’t even use weapons and can only use skills. Blair is heavily outclassed in his niche and doesn’t perform well anywhere else.
Yujin
If we judge Yujin based on his healing abilities, he is an S-tier unit. Unfortunately, that’s all that he can do. In any high-skill group, you will not need a healer. His damage potential is also one of the worst in the game. He is not lower only because he is the best unit for healing.
F-tier
Kyle
Kyle is a unit that specializes in survivability. He is not great at dealing damage but is tough to kill. However, he does not only have low damage potential, but Characters like Ajax or Jayber are also better in this role.
Esiemo
Esiemo is another character who specializes in AOE. Unfortunately, none of his abilities allow him to get even close to the damage potential of top-tier units.
