Salvage Istel’s Grimoire and get unobtainable focus transmog

Salvaging Istel’s Grimoire rewards you with an unobtainable focus transmog. How, you ask? Let’s figure it out!

Recently, a Reddit user, krismate, made a post on r/diablo4 in which they shared an odd occurrence. When playing as a Sorcerer and salvaging the Istel’s Grimoire from the seasonal questline, you can get the mysterious Tome transmog for your focus. What’s more, it isn’t normally obtainable in Diablo 4, as it isn’t flagged as a world drop.

Interestingly, there are around 30 items in the Diablo 4 files that are labeled as undroppable. However, due to how the transmog system works, you can salvage items with identical appearance on specific classes to acquire the transmog. As krismate shares, there were no transmog items similar to the Tome available until Season 5. Does this mean they encountered a bug?

Other Reddit users also found this grimoire, but they did not see the game indicate that a new transmog had been unlocked. It’s possible that the Tome transmog was available earlier, which might be why some players don’t see it as “new.” Still, according to krismate, they couldn’t find the Tome when looking through the items from previous seasons’ quests, which is weird.

What do you think actually happened? Is it a bug that appeared with the launch of Season 5, or is it something else? We would love to hear your guesses in the comments below!
