Diablo 4 Patch 1.4.3: what’s going on with Elixir of Holy Bolts?

Diablo 4 Patch 1.4.3 has finally been live since June 17, and alongside other changes, Blizzard also revamped Elixir of Holy Bolts

Elixir of Holy Bolts

With the release of Patch 1.4.3, Blizzard fixed the issue with the Elixir of Holy Bolts. Previously, its damage was scaling excessively high when triggered by pets like the Necromancer’s Minions or the Druid’s Companions. This has now been corrected, and the Elixir will deal a percentage of your weapon damage instead of the enemy’s health.

Since many players were exploiting the Elixir to deal an obscene amount of damage with Holy Bolts in the blink of an eye before the changes mentioned above, Blizzard’s current strategy is to maintain balance. This consumable is now less effective against tougher enemies in the later tiers of the Pit, but it still remains helpful throughout the game. To further balance the gameplay, the Development Team has also reduced the health of enemies in the Pit for players venturing deep into it.

So, what’s going on with the Elixir of Holy Bolts now? After Patch 1.4.3 came out, many players encountered a problem with this Elixir that made Diablo 4 crash when they used it. To fix it, Blizzard turned off the consumable’s power altogether. Even though you can still use the Elixir, Blizzard does not recommend consuming it as it will have no power.

On June 20, Blizzard posted on the official Diablo 4 forum that it finally resolved the issue with the Elixir of Holy Bolts that was causing backend server crashes. After the bugfix by the Development Team, the Elixir was reactivated, meaning PC and Console players should no longer have any problems using it. Hallelujah!
