Diablo IV Sanctuary Video Showcase: New Zones, Monsters, And More

Blizzard has recently unveiled a video showcasing the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary in Diablo IV. The video features senior quest designer II Harrison Pink, game director Joe Shely, senior dungeon designer Dini McMurry, and art director John Mueller. Together, they will lead you through the game’s most important elements.
ENVIRONMENTS
- There will be 5 unique zones: Kehjistan, Scosglen, Fractured Peaks, the Dry Steppes, and Hawezar. They are inspired by vastly different concept art.
- The development team wanted to make Diablo IV feel like a painting
- The developers paid great attention to making transitions between zone geologically accurate. An excellent example of this is the ice-melting waterfalls on your journey from the snowy Fractured Peaks to the swampy Hawezar
- Dungeons will bear the trademark elements of the area they are in
MONSTERS
- Some of the monsters are redesigned
- Monster families have unique abilities
- The family members synergize and bolster each other in battle
- The monsters vary according to their environment
- Nengari is the new type of enemy that’s coming to the game. They are twisted amalgamations of both human and snake body parts.
- And, a cute note amidst the dark and gloomy world of Diablo IV: you can pet the dogs!
EXPLORATION
- There are a lot of activities: from main campaigns and sidequests to world bosses and invasion events
- You can expect both short and long, narrative-heavy side quests
- You’ll have the chance to visit locations from the cinematics
- The dungeon size was balanced for both enjoyment and atmosphere buildup
DISCOVERY
- You can go from one location to another without encountering the loading screens
- The developers have created a world so that there is always something around the corner to explore and interact with
- You may find Altars of Lilith throughout the game. They will provide permanent boosts to all of your characters
