Black Ops 6 Citadelle des Morts guide
How to unlock the Castle in Citadelle des Morts
You must unlock the castle to start your journey in Citadelle des Morts. This requires opening doors by spending Essence, the in-game currency you get by killing zombies. If you’ve completed previous quests, you’ll recognize this requirement from previous Black Ops Zombies maps. Start by heading up either the right or left side of the map to minimize door unlock costs. Once you reach the castle, use the Lion cannon to open the gates by rotating the wheel. This doesn’t take long, but it does require you to fend off zombies, so try to have just one or two zombies left in the round or have teammates providing cover.
How to activate the Pack-a-Punch Machine in Citadelle des Morts
Once inside the castle, follow the quest markers to the Oubliette Room. Keep door unlocks to a minimum to reduce Essence expenditure. In the Oubliette Room, shoot the three locks on the large container. It contains an Elite enemy, so make sure you’re ready for the fight.
Upon defeating it, a Blood Aetherium Crystal will drop. Take this crystal and use it at the red glowing portal found in the container to activate the Pack-a-Punch machine.
How to start the main quest in Citadelle des Morts
You will need to find and talk to Krafft to start the main quest. You can only do this after activating the Pack-a-Punch machine. Krafft is located behind a closed wooden door in the Dungeon, behind the Quick Revive machine. Wait for the quest dialogue to end, and you will be able to interact with the door to open the hatch and talk to Krafft.
How to unlock all swords in Black Ops 6 Citadelle des Morts
As you progress, you’ll need to collect wax seal stamps, which drop from zombies wearing a pot helmet starting from round ten. Only one stamp can be carried at a time, and you’ll need one stamp to activate all four elemental Bastard Swords.
With a stamp in your inventory, head to the Dining Room where the Knight statues are. Interact with any Knight to claim a sword. Pay attention to the carving on each Knight’s chest, as it indicates where the sword must be activated:
Citadelle des Morts Stag Sword (Durendal)
Trade a stamp for the Stag Sword. You will need to collect three Lightning Rods across the map to progress with this sword. The first rod can be found near the Deadshot Daiquiri machine. The other rod can be found randomly by killing zombies that spawn with the rod attached. The best way to get it is by fighting in the underground area of the map, usually it will be the armoured zombie that has the rod attached. For the last one, you will need a weapon with a Dead Wire ammo mod. In the upper village near Speed Cola, you will find a fuse box attached to the wall, shoot it, and get the rod.
Once all the rods are collected, go to the Hillside Ramparts and find a black Vase where you can put all the rods inside. This will trigger a storm in the area, and zombies will start to spawn infinitely. Kill zombies with the sword until it gets electrified and then hit the Vase. Do this three times, and the storm will stop, allowing you to insert the sword into the Vase. Wait for a little bit, and you will be able to pick up the sword.
Now, you can move to another sword.
Citadelle des Morts Raven Sword (Balmung)
Swap a stamp for the Raven Sword. Go to the Alchemy Lab and locate an antiquity item there. The item will usually be a animal skull, or a rock with a fossil, below is one of teh examples but there are multiple of these item variations. Before you pick it up, check the text on the stand to learn which star sign you got. This is important as the Antiquity items spawn randomly every game.
Now you will need to proceed to the spawn Tavern area. In the Tavern Cellar you will find a circle with star signs. Insert the sword and antiquity item into it. Now you will need to match the symbol in the inner circle with the star sign in the out circle, you will need to move them both to the bottom of the circle. Remember that if you take too long or fail you will need to wait until the next round to try again.
Here is a correct placement for different items you may encounter:
Once you are done with the circle, it will start spawning purple orbs. You will need to lure these orbs into the purple hole that will spawn in the same room. After you get three orbs in, the hole will move to the main area of the tavern, and after you get the orbs in again, it will move for the last time to the second floor of the tavern. After completing all three holes, return to the circle and get your sword.
Now, you can once again move on to the other sword.
Citadelle des Morts Dragon Sword (Caliburn)
After you get the Dragon Sword from the statue, you will need to find the dragon itself. You can find the dragon statue above the Jaggernog. You can interact with it to put the sword inside.
Three Braziers will appear on the map that you will need to interact with in any order. One Brazier will be located in the corner of the Spawn area, another one will be located on the Nature Path, and the closest Brazier to the statue is located near the canon on the ramparts. Once you interact with the Brazier, you will be set on fire, and you will start losing HP. Your goal is to reach the dragon statue before you die. You can melee zombies in your way to fully heal.
After completing this challenge, reclaim the sword and move on.
Citadelle des Morts Lion Sword (Solais)
Trade a stamp for the Lion Sword. Go to the Upper Village area near the Speed Cola, where you can find a door with a lion’s face on it. If you melee the door, four glowing parasites will spawn. After you kill one parasite, the sword will glow yellow. This means you need to melee the door again. Repeat this until four symbols appear on the door, then melee it again.
You will be teleported to the area with a stand where you can put your sword in. Multiple symbols will jump away from this stand to the walls. You will need to find and shoot a symbol that is displayed on the stand under your sword. After you complete all symbols, you will receive the sword.
If this is your last sword, you can now move to the next step.
How to complete the Book puzzle in Cittadele des Morts
The Book puzzle will require you to find and fix a book. This puzzle will allow us to proceed further through the quest. You can optimally complete it before getting the swords, as the order does not matter.
Find four Page Fragments
For this step, you will need to find four Page Fragments. These can be found scattered throughout the sitting room, where the Stamin-Up machine is located. There are at least twelve spawn locations for the fragments, but they are all in this one room, so just look carefully and seek them out. Look for the red glowing icon in the center of each fragment to identify them. The game will track how much you have collected so that you won’t be confused about it.
Find the Book
To find the Book, head to the tavern and search for six bottles spread out around it, they will be on tables and shelves in the area. Every Bottle will have a number and a symbol. Take screenshots of the each bottle as they randomly change every game.
Now, purchase the Melee Macchiato Perk to melee the exposed brick wall in the Undercroft. It will reveal symbols on the wall. Six of these symbols will be the ones you found on the bottle, so your goal is to shoot them in order. Remember that the symbols will rearrange each time after you shoot one, so be patient and wait for them to stabilize.
Fix the Book
Once you are done, the book will appear to the right of the symbols. Go to it and put in all four fragments. The pages will have glowing red symbols. Keep in mind that the pages will differ in each playthrough.
You will need to find four traps around the map with the same symbols. Activate the traps in the correct order of the symbols in the book — top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right. You can locate the Traps by looking at your Tac Map. You will have to run around and locate the Traps you need, as they spawn randomly. After you activate a Trap, you will need to kill some zombies until the Trap stops glowing. If you do everything correctly, the page will stop glowing. In the end, you need all four pages to stop glowing. If you fail, you will have to start the next round to do the Trap again.
How to collect all Ritual Items in Citadelle des Morts
To progress further in the quest, you’ll need to collect Ritual Items. The Ritual Items are scattered around different parts of the map:
Citadelle des Morts Pegasus’ Horseshoe
Pegasus’ Horseshoe can be found above the barn door. Shoot it, pick it up, and carry it to the cannon.
Use the cannon to shoot yourself to the Town Center.
Look for a small storm cloud in the sky, which indicates the location where the Pegasus Horseshoe has dropped.
Citadelle des Morts Raven’s Talon
Use the Obuilette room’s fast-travel Cave slide.
At the end of the slide, there will be a raven. Aim at it and shoot.
Once you enter the spawn area, you will see a raven flying in the sky. Shoot it again to get the item. If you miss the raven once it is in the sky, you can find it flying around the outskirts, so just pay attention.
Citadelle des Morts Ra’s Ankh
You can acquire this item by setting three piles of wood on fire with Molotovs. All of them are located in the hillside ramparts area on the map. The first pile will be at the center of the castle balcony. The other two will be on the left and right of the first one. The one to the right will be just above the castle room, and the one on the left will be outside the castle.
The Ra’s Ankh will drop from the Elite Zombie, which will spawn after you hit all three areas correctly.
Citadelle des Morts Paladin’s Brooch
Paladin’s Brooch can be found by shooting the red crystal above the Vulture Aid Perk-A-Cola machine in the Dining Hall.
Then, you will need to shoot the crystal so the beam aligns with the crystal across it.
Do this until you end up in the alchemy room, where the last beam will need to go toward the bust where the Brooch will spawn.
How to upgrade all Ritual Items in Citadelle des Morts
Now that you have all the Ritual Items, you can upgrade them. Each upgrade requires a specific Ritual Item placed in the glowing golden circle on the ground. A wave of zombies will spawn once you do that, and killing them charges the item with souls. Once the upgrade is complete, a golden chest will spawn, which we will need to unlock Incantations later.
Here are all golden circles locations
- Pegasus’ Horseshoe circle: Found in the Town Center.
- Raven’s Talon circle: Located in the Castle Undercroft.
- Ra’s Ankh circle: Located in the Castle Courtyard.
- Paladin’s Brooch circle: Located in the Castle Dining Room.
How to complete all Incantations in Citadelle des Morts
Once you are done with the Ritual Items, go to the Alchemy Lab. Just outside of it, you will find the order for your Incantations. Each symbol represents one of the swords, and the sword Incantations will need to be completed in that order.
The order will be different for every game, but the main process is the same. You will need to take the correct sword and go to the correct chest. Hit it with the sword to open the chest. Here are the correct chest and sword combinations:
- Pegasus’ Horseshoe chest — Stag Sword
- Raven’s Talon chest — Raven Sword
- Ra’s Ankh chest — Dragon Sword
- Paladin’s Brooch chest — Lion Sword
Once you collect the Incantation, you must go to the dining room and use the Incantation on the Knight with the same symbol, after which you will need to use the inspect animation on the sword. If you have done everything correctly, the Knight will take the sword.
After you have given all the swords away, the knights will spawn the Mystic Orb, which we will use to proceed with the quest.
How to charge the Mystic Orb in Citadelle des Morts
Place the Mystic Orbs in the holders around the map and complete a challenge:
- Durendal (Stag): Located in the Town Center, use the Dead Wire ammo mod or the Stag Sword to get electrical kills.
- Balmung (Raven): Located in the Undercroft, get Void elemental kills using the Shadow Rift ammo mod or Raven Sword.
- Caliburn (Dragon): Located in the Castle Courtyard, get fire kills using the Dragon Sword, molotovs, or the Napalm Burst ammo mod.
- Solais (Lion): Located in the Dining Room, get kills while standing in green orbs around the room.
How to charge the Mystic Orb in Citadelle des Morts
Place the Mystic Orb in the wall with the four elemental symbols that are near the Alchemy room, and a secret room will open up, revealing the Guardian Key.
Take this key to the big statue at the fountain at the spawn area to trigger the final boss fight. Prepare yourself with the best gear, Perks, Gobblegums, and weapons, as the challenging boss fight will test your coordination and combat skills.
Once you insert the key, you will be teleported to the circular boss room. The boss fight will have three phases, during which you will need to fight the boss while also fending off regular zombies.
The boss will have a ton of armor at first that you will need to break by shooting at him before you can deal actual damage. Once the shield is broken, the boss’s parts begin to glow. These are his weak spots. Hit them to deal extra damage. Make sure to run around in a circle and kill zombies when possible, as they will drop armor and ammo.
After some damage is done, the boss moves to the center of the arena and becomes invincible. During this stage, you won’t be able to deal damage to the boss, so you will just need to survive zombie hordes.
The boss will return after some time and become much more mobile and aggressive. He will jump on you and fill parts of the map with lava, so watch out for that. You will once again need to destroy his armor and then shoot at the weak spots.
Once the boss is left with only a third of its HP, it will return to the center again and make the arena smaller by filling the edges with lava. It will start attacking again after a short period. Watch out for the lava on the edges, as it can kill you quite fast. At this point, just focus on killing the boss as fast as you can and ignore other zombies as much as possible.
Once you kill the boss, it will drop the Amulet. Pick it up to see the final cutscene. After the cutscene, you can choose to continue the game for extra rewards or leave.
