New Brawler Shade: overview

Shade Attack: Haunted Hug

Shade attacks by swinging its arms in a big, wide hug, hitting all enemies in a 150-degree arc, even if they’re behind walls. The attack takes 0.35 seconds to hit, but there’s no travel time — it lands instantly once ready, and Shade can still move during this time. Enemies caught in the center of the hug take double the damage, making it extra powerful if they fail to escape”

Shade Super: Incorporeal Form

Shade steps out of the physical world, letting them phase through walls, enemies, and obstacles for 5 seconds. During this time, Shade also moves faster. After 5 seconds, they return to their normal form. If Shade activates the Super again while still in this ghostly state, the ability’s duration resets, keeping Shade in this ghost form longer.

Shade Stats

Shade has an interesting type of attack where the damage is doubled in the center. Skillful players can become a menace on the map if they can always land these double-damage hits. The normal shade attack at level 11 only does 1600 damage, but the double one hits for 3200. This allows Shade to defeat even tanky Brawler quite fast. Combined with the ability to hit through walls, you won’t be wrong to call Shade Op. Of course, there are problems like the short attack range or the attack delay in trying to balance Shade. However, it may be too little to affect the outcome.

At level 11 Shade has 7000 HP. This is quite average for assassins, and Shade is not the tanky type of assassin like Sam. Shade will be a shady assassin, no pun intended, striking enemies from behind the walls or sneaking upon them with his Super.

Shade Gadgets

Longarms

Longarms make Shade’s next attack reaches 50% farther than normal, adding 1.67 tiles to its range. When the Gadget is activated, a glowing symbol appears above Shade, and the attack joystick lights up. The Gadget’s cooldown starts as soon as the enhanced attack is used. This attack is perfect for last hitting the enemy that tries to run away or to hit multiple enemies simultaneously.

Jump Scare

Jump Scare allows Shade to summon ghostly figures in a 2-tile radius, frightening nearby enemies and slowing them down for 4 seconds. This Gadget is perfect for escaping multiple enemies that try to gang up on you. You can also use it to slow down vulnerable enemies you can kill.

Shade Star Powers

Spooky Speedster

Spooky Speedster makes it so that when Shade lands a direct hit with the center of its hug, it gets a temporary speed boost. The boost lasts longer if multiple enemies are hit in the center simultaneously. This again allows Shade to catch up to fleeing enemies and finish them off.

Hardened Hoodie

Hardened Hoodie reduced Shade’s damage intake by 30% when the Super is active. This gives more usefulness to Shade’s Super, making them a bit more tanky. This can allow you to escape death more easily if your Super is ready. But compared to the other Starr Power, it seems less desirable.

Shade Traits

Radius

Radius makes it so Shade’s Super charges whenever enemies are nearby, within a 6-tile radius. For each enemy inside the circle, Shade gains 6.75% Super charge per second — fully charging in 15 seconds if only one enemy is present. The Super charges even if enemies are hiding in bushes or invisible. Allies can see Shade’s Trait radius, but enemies cannot.

Water

As you might have guessed by the name. Water allows Shade to walk on Water tiles, this makes shade the 4th Brawler to be able to do it.

How to unlock Shade

New Brawler Shade will be added to the game on November 28, and they will be in early access. This means Shade is only available as part of the early access bundle for now. The Bundle includes pins, gems, and coins. However, it is highly advised not to buy this bundle even if you think you can afford it because it is not worth the money.

Shade will be available in Starr Road for everyone 7 days after the start of the early access.
