Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

There are 87 brawlers in the game, and as in any competitive game, some brawlers perform better than others. The meta is forever changing as the devs continue to buff and nerf different brawlers. This Brawl Stars tier list will show you the best brawlers in the meta and who to avoid for now.

Keep in mind that this Brawl Stars tier list can be subjective. It is up to you who to play as the game’s main point is to have fun. Don’t be discouraged to play lower-tier brawlers if you like them. As the meta changes, they may get better. We will make sure to upgrade our tier list when this happens.

However, if you’re a new player, we highly recommend checking out our Top 5 best Brawl Stars brawlers for beginners. This is because the game for new players differs in many ways.

Brawl Stars Tier List criteria

The criteria for this tier list are pretty simple. To define every brawler position, we look at their current state in the meta:

Brawl Stars Tier List: From S to F

This Tier List is made with the latest balance update in mind.

Due to the fact that Buzz Lightyear is a limited Brawler and can’t be used in Ranked, he will be excluded from this list, but he is definitely a top-tier Brawler himself.

Here is our entire Brawl Stars tier list:

We’ve provided detailed information below to help you understand why each character is placed in their respective tier.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier S

The best brawlers in the game sit in the S tier of our Brawl Stars tier list. They are the most versatile brawlers in the game and can be used in most modes while staying super strong.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Shade

Compared to the other new Brawlers in this list, Shade has not gotten nerfed yet. So you can still play this OP Brawler. Shade comes with a lot of unique mechanics, he can hit trough walls, he can deal double damage, he can go trough walls with his Super. You just cannot escape him.

Kenji

Even with multiple nerfs in a row, Kenji is still dominating the meta. His survivability is unmatched in the game.

Moe

Moe also received a ton of Nerfs, which didn’t help in making him less than S-tier. He still easily dominates the game.

Darryl

Darryl’s ability to use the Super twice is insane, and combined with his other abilities, he is very strong.

Surge

Past level three, Surge becomes unstoppable; his Hypercharge also adds to his domination.

Frank

Frank got more nerfs, but despite all of them, he still holds strong and is definitely one of the best tanks in the game.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier A

This tier consists of very competitive brawlers. They are just not as broken as the brawlers in the S tier. But with a good player, they will perform as well as the S-tier brawlers. Although we do have the S tier, you should not be discouraged from using these brawlers yourself.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Gale

Gale is the best counter to aggressive brawlers in this current meta. But his nerfs definitely affect his recent performance.

Clancy

Clancy has received a fair share of nerfs, and he is not as strong as he was during his launch; at level 3, he is still a menace.

Stu

Stu is a very competitive brawler. His Hypercharge, combined with his Starr Power, allows him to drive around the map while being invincible. This confuses enemies and allows your team to push hard.

Juju

Juju is a versatile thrower. With her different abilities, she can control the map like no one else, but due to how hard it is to master her, you won’t see many great Juju players in low-trophy games.

Byron

One of the best healers in the game. Byron is also difficult to counter.

Angelo

Angelo has great damage and mobility and can even fly over water, which makes him as annoying as a mosquito.

Piper

Piper continues to be one of the best sharpshooters in the game; she has great damage and can escape from danger with her Super.

Rico

With his hypercharge and Gadget Rico, he is a solid choice. He, however, still needs a very skillful player to make those ricochet shots; that is why he is not S-tier.

Amber

Amber has a formidable damage output and great stats. She is a solid character in the current meta.

Max

She lacks stats herself. But Max is a great supporter of the aggressive brawlers.

Larry & Lawrie

Larry is already strong on his own, but when Lawrie joins the fight, Larry becomes nearly unreachable, making them great for defense and survival.

Barley

With a hypercharge and many buffs, Barley is a great Brawler and is well-received by the pros.

Gene

Gene is a solid support brawler, but he’s not recommended on fast-paced maps.

Nita

Nita’s hypercharge bear is a menace to any player. He has a lot of HP and forces you to deal with him. The only reason Nita is not higher is her attack range.

Kit

Kit is very strong in combination with some of the top-tier Brawlers, which makes him a great Brawler as well, but in the wrong team, Kit will not be able to compete much.

Gus

Gus provides a lot of help to top-tier Brawlers with his Super. He also can stand his own ground and deal significant damage to enemies.

Penny

Penny finally received a Hypercharge, and her canon’s attack range got buffed, so now she controls the map better than ever before.

Meg

With how many nerfs Meg has, it would be surprising if she was still in the top tier. However, don’t underestimate her; she can still be a strong opponent.

Buster

One of the strongest characters without a hypercharge. Buster is falling slightly due to that, but otherwise a very good brawler.

Melodie

Melodie got a significant boost with her Hypercharge. She is now much more of a threat; she is almost unstoppable when in her Hypercharged form, so stay aware when playing against her.

Otis

He performs well against tanks and assassins, and with his Hypercharge, he is now feeling much better in the meta.

Cordelius

Cordelius can enjoy playing aggressively, but now there are a lot more Brawlers who can survive against his Super. If this trend continues, he may fall even lower.

Lily

Lily is countered a lot by the best Brawlers right now; even if she can sneak up on them, she is not as much of a threat as she once was. But still, be aware when playing against her.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier B

This tier is for the competitive brawlers, who are not as overpowered. This is the largest tier in our Brawl Stars tier list, as characters end up here for different reasons. They are very competitive in some scenarios while struggling a bit in others.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Sandy

Sandy has one of the best Supers in the game, but that’s about it. He struggles to find his place in the current meta and is very map-dependent now, so he is not as good as he once was.

R-T

R-T is pretty average in his starting form, but when he is split, he becomes unstoppable.

Mortis

Mortis is falling from the top tiers due to the nerf to his Hypercharge. Now, he can’t use it as often, allowing other Brawlers to counter him better.

Ruffs

Ruffs was given a great Hypercharge, but he still relies on his teammates to perform.

Squeak

Squeak is great at keeping pressure and being annoying to the enemy, but his HP is quite low, allowing other Brawlers to counter him often.

Ash

Ash got a Hypercharge and a buff to his range increase so he is feeling much better in the current meta.

Berry

Berry is a support. He can’t win matches on his own, so he needs to rely on good teammates. With a good team, he might as well be S-tier, but with randoms, he may find himself struggling.

Colette

Collette can deal a lot of damage and is very skilled at countering tanks. But against other Brawlers, she can struggle.

Belle

Belle is struggling with damage output compared to other sharpshooters, but she is still quite competitive.

Shelly

Shelly is a good counter to tanks and assassins. However, she sometimes lacks range, so there are better options.

Sprout

For Sprout, the main problem is the players who can play around his Super. Otherwise, he still performs well.

Spike

Ever since Spike got his damage nerfs, people have stopped playing him as much as they used to. He is not doing the damage he did before, so there are better Brawlers.

Chester

Chester got a nerf to his Starr power, which made him much worse. He is still a decent Brawler, but as good as he used to be.

Bea

Bea is a great choice to counter tanks and assassins who play aggressively.

Tick

Tick is countered by top-tier Brawlers a lot right now, so he is not as good. But he can still apply tons of pressure on the map.

Mandy

Mandy is struggling in the current Meta as she is a lot more map-dependent than other long-range Brawlers.

Crow

Crow is very map-dependent in the current meta. He is great at maps with a lot of bushes, but in the open, he is pretty bad.

Lola

Lola is a great all-round Brawler. Her Super is great, and she performs relatively well, but she is not as dominating as Brawlers at higher tiers.

Jessie

Jessie is competitive, with around 500 trophies, but at higher ranks, she’s often countered, and only highly skilled players can make her shine.

8-Bit

8-Bit is a solid brawler but gets countered by higher-tier brawlers often.

Pam

An often underrated brawler, Pam performs strong. Her main downside is the inability to counter some brawlers from higher tiers.

Emz

Emz is great at dominating close-range Brawlers, but her attack is quite slow so she is not as good on longer ranges.

Griff

Griff has a decent damage output. This allows him to dominate in modes like zone control, where enemies have to come closer to him.

Lou

Lou has become a solid option due to his ability to counter some of the strongest enemies in the game. Better brawlers in this category exist as Lou struggles on some maps.

Nani

Nani is a very good long-range brawler, but she struggles with closed maps with a lot of walls.

Maisie

Maisie counters top-tier Brawlers pretty well and can stay competitive with her long-range shots.

Poco

Healers are not as needed in the current meta, so Poco is much lower on the list.

Willow

Willow’s main positive comes from her Super. She can counter enemies who use hypercharge. This makes her a very-needed teammate, and with her recent buffs, she may jump even higher in our Brawl Stars Tier List.

Colt

Colt is slowly falling as more brawlers get buffs and hypercharges. However, Colt can put up a serious fight compared to the lower tiers if you aim his shots well.

Dynamike

Dynamike struggles to land his shots against fast brawlers, and this is the main reason why other throwers are better.

Tara

Tara’s Hypercharge is now one of the best in the game. Not only is it bigger, but she can also destroy the map’s objects with it. But her attacks can’t really compete with long-range Brawlers.

Charlie

Charlie is slowly climbing the ranks back as she got a damage buff recently.

Gray

Gray is not as great on his own, but his teleports, especially with his Hypercharge, can be very annoying to play against.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier C

This is the first tier in our Brawl Stars tier list where we have good characters. These brawlers are close to being competitive, and you can play them on high trophy ranks, but they will probably still face some problems.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Carl

His main problem in the current meta is how many characters can stop his Super. A stun or any other attack that blocks Carl’s Super is his nemesis because most of his damage output comes from his Super.

Pearl

Pearl arguably has one of the worst Hypercharges in the game, which is causing her to perform poorly in the current state of the game. However, due to her high damage output, she is not in the bottom tiers.

Bibi

For a close-range Brawler, Bibi lacks any way to get close to the enemy fast, and she can’t counter some higher-tier brawlers because of this.

Sam

Sam is also another close-range Brawler who suffers to keep up with the current meta and gets countered easily.

Brock

Brock is a great Brawler in good hands, but his shots are really easy to dodge, so he is not at the top tier.

Leon

One of the old-school fan favorites of the game. Unfortunately, Leon is not performing well now. A lot of characters can counter him easily.

Draco

Draco is now quite underwhelming. His dependence on close range makes him less competitive, and he can feed a lot of supercharge to enemies.

Eve

Eve thrives on maps with many water areas. And now, with her Hypercharge, she is more competitive despite her overall low stats.

El Primo

El Primo is good in closed maps with a lot of walls. He struggles a lot on open maps. And the main problem of his is that there are better options for close-range brawlers.

Buzz

Buzz, just like other close-range brawlers, is not feeling well in this meta; the game is more fast-paced than it ever was.

Mico

Mico can be annoying for new players, but PROs learned to predict when he lands very well, which makes him much less competitive.

Rosa

Rosa is great in low-skill ranks. But there are better tanks in the game.

Chuck

Chuck performs well in some game modes, such as heist. He is one of the best picks for places where he is good, but he is not as strong outside of those.

Edgar

Edgar is a menace on low trophy lobbies where players don’t know how to counter him, but for PROs, he is easily countered and not that great of a choice.

Fang

Fang has potential and performs well, but pros can easily evade his attacks, making him struggle in high-level play.

Jacky

Jacky is a very decent tank, but she struggles with open maps and has low speed.

Bo

In the current meta, if a character doesn’t have a hypercharge, they must be strong enough to compete. Bo is the character who can’t. He has potential and performs well, around 500 trophies, but in high-level games, he’s not a threat.

Janet

Janet is another character lacking DPS, which is her only major drawback. However, now, with her Hypecharge, she can be a much better pick for modes like Heist.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier D

In our Brawl Stars tier list, tier D is reserved for brawlers who struggle with being consistent. They have specific maps of game modes where they perform well, but in any other circumstance, they are a worse choice than what we have in higher tiers.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Mr. P

Mr. P really lacks the DPS now, but he can still counter some of the brawlers, so he is not completely useless right now.

Bull

Bull needs to get up close to the enemy, and because his range is very low, he can’t do much. In a meta where slow, close-range Brawlers are countered easily, Bull falls off the most.

Grom

Grom’s attacks are easy to dodge, and the damage is not enough to justify using him, as there are so many better throwers in the game.

Brawl Stars Tier List: Tier F

This tier is reserved for a few brawlers out of the meta. The pro players don’t want to use them, and pushing them is very hard for casual players. The brawlers in this tier will get a buff soon, so it is advised that they wait for that instead of trying to play them.

Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers

Bonnie

Bonnie definitely lacks both HP and damage. She easily gets countered and can’t really kill anyone.

Hank

High health allows Hank to counter low-damage enemies by just outliving them. However, in every other aspect, he’s worse than other tanks.

Doug

Doug is arguably the worst brawler in Brawl Stars right now. He performs poorly due to his small range. He is a close-range brawler, but any other close-range brawler is better.

Jupitersays:

This list is so real but I think you should put Draco higher as he is still very powerful

El Raphaelo BS Fansays:

can you upgrade mr.p his is in the D level and my main brawler

Anonymoussays:

Buzz should be a higher tier; his ability to stun multiple enemies and effectively team wipe afterward makes him one of the better assassins.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsays:

i got to say edgar should be in the B tier because he can jump onto opponentes and then finish them off

TheWorstOttersays:

Just gonna say, Doug is incredibly OP, since he heals whenever his attack goes off he’s super tanky with an already high max hp, he’s just a more tanky version of Jackie with a slightly lower range, but Doug’s super is incredibly OP for Knockout, Zone Capture, etc

TheWorstOttersays:

Just gonna say, Doug is incredibly OP, since he heals whenever his attack goes off he’s super tanky with an already high max hp, he’s just a more tanky version of Jackie and El Primo also has short range and he works fine, albeit he has a travel super, but Doug’s super is incredibly OP for Knockout, Zone Capture, etc
