Brawl Stars tier list: best and worst brawlers
Learn more about the current rankings of brawlers in this Brawl Stars tier list — every character ranks from worst to best.
Currently, there are 82 brawlers in the game, and as in any competitive game, some brawlers perform better than others. The meta is forever changing, as the devs continue to buff and nerf different brawlers. This Brawl Stars tier list will show you the best brawlers in the meta and who to avoid for now.
Keep in mind that this Brawl Stars tier list can be subjective. It is up to you who to play as the main point of the game is to have fun. Don’t be discouraged to play lower-tier brawlers if you like them. As the meta changes, they may get better. We will make sure to upgrade our tier list when this happens.
However, if you’re a new player, we highly recommend checking out our Top 5 best Brawl Stars brawlers for beginners. This is because the game for new players differs in many ways.
Brawl Stars tier list criteria
The criteria for this tier list are pretty simple. To define every brawler position we look at their current state in the meta:
- Brawlers who can consistently win in high-level games are ranked higher.
- Below them will be brawlers who are only great at specific scenarios, specific maps, or counter-specific brawlers.
- At the bottom of the list will be the characters who lack in stats and can’t compete against other brawlers in the high ranks.
Tier S
The best brawlers in the game sit in the S tier of our Brawl Stars tier list. They are the most versatile brawlers in the game and can be used in most modes while staying super strong.
Gale
The best counter to aggressive brawlers in this current meta. He recently got a hypercharge and is now an insane character in the meta.
Kit
Kit has one of the best heals in the game. He can sit back and support strong units to the point that you cannot kill them due to how much heals they get.
Lily
She recently got buffed and now has 2 shots that she can quickly release and deal massive amounts of damage. She is one of the top DPS units in the game.
Clancy
Clancy just recently came out and is already at the top. Clancy has the highest damage output in the game and once he gets to stage 3 he is unstoppable. This is also because he doesn’t lose his stages even if you manage to kill him once.
Berry
Berry’s attacks stay on the land for a long time. He also has insane AOE healing that makes him a menace on any map or mode.
Frank
He also recently got a hypercharge and a rework. Those changes made him so op that he became the face of the current meta. He is undoubtedly the best tank in the game. and he will be nerfed soon to counter his dominating position.
Meg
We are finishing our Brawl Stars tier list with Meg. Meg also got a rework and is now dominating everyone. She has insane damage output and big health especially once she gets into her robot. And she also gets a second life making her very broken. Meg will likely be nerfed soon to balance the meta.
Tier A
This tier consists of very competitive brawlers. They are just not as broken as the brawlers in the S tier. But with a good player, they will perform as well as the S-tier brawlers. Although we do have the S tier, you should not be discouraged from using these brawlers yourself.
Charlie
She is falling off with the amount of nerfs she got. However, Charlie still can counter brawlers and stop their attacks.
Nita
Nita’s hypercharge bear is a menace to any player, he has a lot of HP and forces you to deal with him. The only reason Nita is not higher is her attack range.
Buster
One of the strongest characters without a hypercharge. Buster is falling slightly due to that but otherwise a very good brawler.
Cordelius
Cordelius is a nice counter to aggressive brawlers, and he is one himself making him very competitive.
Melody
Melody’s performance is declining, but she still excels on open maps and can be a threat.
Gene
Gene is a solid support brawler, but he’s not recommended on fast-paced maps.
Draco
After release, Draco was buffed and became super OP however later he was nerfed in an attempt to balance him out. He is still a great competitor and can be a big problem if your team can’t counter him.
Barley
With a hypercharge and many buffs, Barley is climbing the rank and is well-received by the pros.
Larry & Lawrie
Larry is already strong on his own, but when Lawrie joins the fight, Larry becomes nearly unreachable, making them great for defense and survival.
Buzz
Buzz is countering the current meta-brawlers well. He performs despite no new changes to his damage or abilities.
Crow
Great assassin character. Crow Can jump on low-health brawlers to finish them off. He is also a great counter to fast brawlers.
Jessie
Jessie is competitive around 500 trophies, but at higher ranks, she’s often countered, and only highly skilled players can make her shine.
Belle
Belle’s ranking is mainly affected by other sharpshooters who perform better than her.
R-T
R-T is pretty average in his starting form but when he is split he becomes unstoppable.
Chester
With the recent buffs he got, Chester is now one of the best counters to the aggressive brawler meta. This puts him near the top of our Brawl Stars tier list.
Colette
Collette can deal a lot of damage and she can counter tanks both in low and high tiers very well.
Max
She lacks stats herself. But Max is a great supporter of the aggressive brawlers.
Amber
Amber has a formiddable damage output and great stats. She is a solid character in the current meta.
Rico
With his hypercharge, Rico jumped high into the meta. He however still needs a very skillful player to make those ricochet shots.
Piper
Piper survives the meta where she is not favored. Her hypercharge mostly allows her to stay in the high ranks.
Angelo
It can be argued that Angelo’s hypercharge was a nerf. However, he still performs great.
Byron
One of the best healers in the game. Byron is also difficult to counter.
Sandy
Barely reaching S tier we have Sandy. He recently was nerfed a bit, but it is undeniable that his Super is one of the best in the game and he is in the top competitive plays all the time.
Tier B
This tier is for the competitive brawlers, who are not as overpowered. This is the largest tier in our Brawl Stars tier list as characters end up here for different reasons. They are very competitive in some scenarios while struggling a bit in others.
Fang
Fang has potential and performs well, but pros can easily evade his attacks, making him struggle in high-level play.
Poco
With new healers coming to the game Poco slowly gets lower on the list. He also struggles to deal with brawlers who get close to him.
Otis
He performs well against tanks and assassins but he is outclassed by some other brawlers due to his lower damage.
Nani
Nani is a very good long-range brawler but she struggles in closed maps with a lot of walls.
Eve
Eve thrives on maps with a lot of water areas. However, she is not as strong as she used to be in other situations.
Chuck
Chuck performs well in some game modes such as heist. He is one of the best picks for places where he is good, but outside of them, he is not as strong.
Brock
Brock got a change to his supercharge recently but it did not do much for him so he stays in the B tier of our Brawl Stars tier.
Bibi
For a close-range brawler, Bibi is a solid option. Her main downside is that she can’t counter some higher-tier brawlers.
Lou
Lou has become a solid option due to his ability to counter some of the strongest enemies in the game. Better brawlers in this category exist as Lou struggles on some maps.
Griff
Griff has a decent damage output, This allows him to dominate in modes like zone control where enemies have to come closer to him.
Sam
A hybrid between an assassin and a tank Sam performs well in a current meta. He ranks lower because better options exist.
Emz
Emz dominates on maps with tall grass, but outside of them, she’s not the best option. She recently got a supercharge that made her more competitive and she may climb higher on the list if she gets more time.
Pam
An often underrated brawler Pam performs strong. Her main downside is the inability to counter some brawlers from higher tiers.
8-Bit
Same as Sam 8-Bit is a solid brawler but gets countered by higher-tier brawlers easily.
Lola
She is a very average brawler and mainly struggles with DPS, she is currently one of the closest brawlers to the medium rank.
Mandy
With her recent buffs, Mandy is a threat on long-range maps. However, if an enemy can find a way to her she struggles to defend herself.
Surge
For surge, the main problem is charging his first Super. Now that the meta is full of aggressive brawlers who come close, he can charge fast. Long-range maps are the areas where he would struggle the most.
Tick
Throwers usually struggle against aggressive brawlers. However, Tick can keep them away enough.
Colt
Colt is slowly falling as more brawlers get buffs and hypercharges. Compared to the lower tiers however Colt can put up a serious fight if you can aim his shots well.
Bea
Bea is a great choice to counter tanks and assassins who play aggressively. Unfortunately, there are better options in this role.
Spike
Ever since Spike got his damage nerfs people don’t play him as much as they used to. He is not doing the damage he did before so there are better brawlers.
Sprout
For Sprout, the main problem is the players who can play around his Super. Otherwise, he still performs well.
Shelly
Shelly is another good counter to tanks and assassins. She however lacks the range sometimes so there are better options.
Dynamike
Dynamike struggles to land his shots against fast brawlers, however, he shouldn’t be underestimated.
Gray
Gray is a very mobile and versatile brawler. But his main features are not as needed in the current meta.
Stu
Stu is a very competitive brawler. However, he is also slowly lowering in the ranks due to a lack of hypercharge. Once he gets one, he’ll climb higher on our Brawl Stars tier list.
Tier C
This is the first tier in our Brawl Stars tier list where we have good characters. These brawlers are close to being competitive and you can play them on high trophy ranks but will probably still meet some problems.
Squeak
Squeak starts our C tier and is a good character his only problem is that if any aggressive brawlers get to him he is done for.
Pearl
Pearl arguably owns one of the worst hypercharges in the game. This makes her not the best in the current game state.
Carl
His main problem in the current meta is the amount of characters that can stop his Super. A stun or any other attack that blocks Carl’s super is his nemesis cause most of his damage output comes from his Super.
Bull
Another character with a weak hypercharge was much better before but now that brawlers get better hypercharges. We are forced to put him low on our Brawl Stars tier list.
Edgar
Also, a character that performed better before, but now is getting outclassed by the new hypercharges.
Mico
Mico is very inconsistent. He defeats some brawlers with ease while struggling against others. This makes him less competitive.
Maisie
Her attacks are hard to master and her supercharge is charging slowly. But if you can play around with those problems you can get a pretty decent character
Tara
Tara is an acceptable counter to aggressive brawlers. However, her super takes very long to charge so she struggles a bit.
El Primo
El Primo is good in closed maps with a lot of walls. He struggles a lot on open maps. And the main problem of his is that there are better options for close-range brawlers.
Leon
One of the old-school fan favorites of the game. Unfortunately, Leon is not performing well now. Characters that get buffed can counter Leon easily.
Willow
Willow’s main positive comes from her Super. She can counter enemies who use hypercharge. This makes her a very-needed teammate.
Ruffs
If you have teammates you can rely on then Ruffs is a good support character. However, he needs to stay alive to deal with more buffs so it is hard to maximize his potential. And his damage is pretty low.
Jacky
Jackie is a very decent tank but she struggles with open maps. And also her speed is low.
Tier D
In our Brawl Stars tier list, tier D is reserved for brawlers who struggle with being consistent. They have specific maps of game modes where they perform well but in any other circumstance, they are a worse choice than what we have in higher tiers.
Bo
In the current meta, if a character doesn’t have a hypercharge, they must be strong enough to compete. Bo is the character who can’t. He has potential and performs well around 500 trophies, but in high-level games, he’s not a threat.
Hank
The only thing that keeps him from F-tier is that he has the second-highest health in the game. This allows him to counter low-damage enemies by just outliving them. However, in every other aspect, he’s worse than other tanks.
Bonnie
Bonnie lacks DPS in her normal form and is easily countered by many higher-ranked brawlers. Not helping is the fact she is slow. However, her supper can be very effective and could get you killed.
Grom
Grom also struggles in high ranks. He performs well in low-trophy matches, but that’s not the focus of our Brawl Stars tier list. Once you start playing against more experienced players his shots become easy to dodge and he is countered pretty well. He also lacks in damage compared to other throwers.
Janet
Janet is another character that lacks DPS, which is her only major drawback. She would be much more competitive if her stats were higher.
Mortis
A recurring issue in the low ranks of our Brawl stars tier list is that most characters perform poorly because they don’t have a supercharge. And Mortis is a clear example of this problem. Any character that gets supercharged automatically gets stronger than him and can counter him.
Mr. P
The second issue with supercharges is characters who lack DPS. They have alright kits but because of their stats they cannot fully show them and Mr. P shows that problem.
Ash
Ash has the same issue with no hypercharge. most other tanks are just better and can counter him.
Gus
Gus has the same issue with low DPS. He has a good kit but lacks in stats.
Tier F
This tier is reserved for a few brawlers out of the meta. The pro players don’t want to use them and for casual players pushing them is very hard. The brawlers in this tier will get a buff soon so it is advised to wait for that instead of trying to play them.
Doug
Starting the F tier is Doug. Arguably the worst brawler in Brawl Stars right now. He performs poorly due to his small range. He is a close-range brawler but any other close-range brawler is just better.
Penny
Penny struggles in the current meta. Her damage was nerfed a long time ago, and since then, more brawlers have easily countered her.
Darryl
Darryl has been completely forgotten. He hasn’t received buffs in years and is the only tank without hypercharge, making him the worst tank choice.
And this is the end of our Brawl Stars tier list. Share with us who is your favorite brawler and do you agree with their position on the list?
