Community is unhappy with the Brawl Stars SpongeBob event

After the Brawl Stars SpongeBob event launched, players voiced dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the update, including Power-Ups and event rewards.

The community is not happy with the Brawl Stars SpongeBob event

The new Brawl Stars SpongeBob event is in full swing. After the launch hype died down, the community quickly noticed many flaws with the event, including new Power-Ups and event rewards. Let’s look at all the problems that the community is pointing out.

The Krusty Krabs shop in Brawl Stars SpongeBob event is not fair.

Krusty Krabs shop is one of the main points of the new event. Players can spend Krusty Kash on various deals to buy skins, Star Drops, and Power Meals. However, the community quickly realized that F2P players could not purchase most of the deals in the shop due to its structure. Offers like Power Melas and Star Drops are the ones that are most likely to be ignored.

A lot of players don’t want Brawl Stars SpongeBob Power Meals

Because the most attention is paid to SpongeBob skins, F2P players collect all the Krusty Kash and save it for the skin deals. This means you will rarely meet an F2P player using any of the new Power-Ups, ignoring a significant part of the event. Nobody is interested in spending event currency on the Power-Ups because they are not permanent as skins.

The shop pricing is too high

F2P players are basically unable to buy all the limited SpongeBob skins, and it is a struggle for low-spenders. The amount of Krusty Kash you can collect is meager, around 500 Kash daily. While the skin pricing starts at around 5000 Kash, this means you will need ten days or more to earn one skin. And there are currently 4 of them. And there are many more offers that F2P players would be interested in if they could earn enough Krusty Kash.

Random Free Deals

Supercell also revealed that there is a super rare chance you will get a free deal in the Krusty Krabs shop. The free deal can be a simple Power Meal or an event skin. This is probably the most unfair part of the shop, as you can spend Krusty Kash or gems on a deal, but the next day, it could have been free.

The community quickly split into those who got lucky:

And those who were angry that not everyone got free rewards:

Brawl Stars SpongeBob Power-Ups are not balanced

SpongeBob Power-Ups are a big part of this event. However, as we already discussed, F2P players have difficulty getting them. The problem is not only with how hard it is to get them but also with the fact that it is random. Each Power Meal gives you a random Power-Up, so you can completely miss some Power-Ups while getting the ones you don’t want. Check out our Power-Ups guide to learn more.

With all this RNG, the worst part is the fact that some Power-Ups are overpowered while others are pretty useless. For example, a Spatula allows you to one-shot a low-hp enemy, while Chum Balls make your projectiles follow the enemy. The bubble only allows you to spread some bubbles over the field that can be easily avoided and don’t deal much damage.

These are the major points that the community complains about. There are also other issues, such as the fact that this whole update will bring no permanent content to the game except for some skins and the problem of bad matchmaking. But those problems are less about the update itself and more about the direction Supercell has chosen.

The event is as dumb as it can get.
For new players like me 2 months into the game, at 18k trophies, I barely have 30+ brawlers and low-to-mid power levels. As if the matchups where I am isn’t already with brawlers all powered up to 10 or 11, now they have the stupid modifiers which further skews the imbalance. And im not even referring to pros, stupid lame players with low technical skills just spam brawlers like colt and crow spatula and we get owned.

I think supercell hired a dumbass analytics as well as product/ developer team – giving all the wrong advice from pre-event matchup algorithms being a wreck to even worse-off recommendations for this event.
