Brawl Stars Clancy: new brawler sparks controversy
The community believes that the new playable character in Brawl Stars Clancy is too overpowered and needs a nerf, though some players disagree.
Table of Contents
Clancy is the newest Brawler in the game. He was initially revealed in June but was only recently released in July as part of an early access bundle. For most players, he will become available on August 1 when he is added to Starr Road.
Initially, the discussion was quite positive. However, as more players began using him, Clancy began to be perceived as overpowered (OP). The community split into two main camps: those who believe Clancy should be nerfed and those who think he isn’t that OP.
Brawl Stars Clancy Explained
To understand the community’s reaction, let’s first look at the new Brawler. Clancy is the latest Mythic rarity Brawler. He has average stats in most areas, but his damage output is exceptionally high. He attacks the enemies by shooting at them in different patterns depending on his stage.
His Trait allows him to increase his damage. When he hits an enemy with his bullet, he gains 1 Token. Collecting enough Tokens enables him to progress to the next stage. At stage one, he only fires one bullet forward. At stage two, he fires an additional one. And, at stage three, he shoots two bullets forward and two bullets diagonally.
His Super, Torrent, releases bullets in a half-circle in front of him. Progressing through the stages increases his Super’s range and damage output.
He also gets powerful gadgets. Snappy Shooting doubles his Token gain for 5 seconds. Tactical Retreat lets him dash around, reloading one ammo slot and stunning any enemies nearby.
The Star Powers he gets are also good. Recon gives him three tokens at the start of the game. Pumping Up reloads his weapon upon every enemy he defeats.
Clancy is OP argument
Once early access began, players who purchased Clancy discovered his immense power.
The community largely agrees that chaining his Supers is easy, resulting in extremely high damage output. In Brawl Stars Clancy appears to be one of the highest damage dealers, making him especially effective in game modes like Heist. This allows players to quickly climb the ranks.
Additionally, he does not lose his tiers after death, meaning he remains strong even if defeated.
Clancy is not OP argument
On the other hand, some players highlight Clancy’s shortcomings. His shots are hard to master, and he performs much worse at stage 1. This means that in the hands of a less skilled player, Clancy can be easily beaten by other strong brawlers.
The main argument is that while Clancy is strong, he takes time to become powerful, which naturally balances him.
Conclusion
Given all this debate, it will be interesting to see how Supercell responds. Will they ignore the community and potentially let one character dominate the meta, or will they try to balance Clancy? This Brawl Stars Clancy controversy will affect the game moving forward. For now, he remains a powerful character to add to your account.
