S-tier: Best DPS for Midnight prepatch

Let’s start by looking at the best DPS specs to main in Midnight prepatch.
Unholy Death Knight

Unholy Death Knight is a powerhouse in the Midnight prepatch. While some numbers might be inflated due to shorter encounter times from scaling, the DPS stats don’t lie, Unholy is our only entry in the S+ tier on the Midnight prepatch DPS tier list.
The burst damage from Unholy is so high that its lack of utility becomes almost irrelevant; who cares about M+ situations or MFO boss mechanics when your DPS alone can help skip most of the mechanics?
Survival Hunter

Survival Hunter have received another rework in Midnight. Takedown and Boomstick are very strong new abilities that deal immense damage. Although Survival has lost many of its signature abilities, like Eagle Fury, it has gained far more from the rework and has secured its place in S tier.
Fury Warrior

Not much has changed for Fury Warrior, as the removed talents were mostly less viable options. The DPS tuning alone, however, has raised Fury Warrior into S tier.
Devastation Evoker

Devastation Evoker received huge buffs in terms of DPS output and therefore became stronger. Reduced CD on Deep Breath casts, and Dragonrage changes are among some of the buffs. This places overall strong spec to an S-tier.
A-tier: Strong DPS in Midnight

Here is the list of good-performing specs in Midnight prepatch, based on recent balance changes and Warcraft logs. You could even call them top DPS Midnight specs to main.
Subtlety Rogue

Subtlety Rogue in Midnight has been significantly reworked to be more accessible for newer players. Reliable burst damage every 1.5 minutes and streamlined gameplay has pushed Subtlety into A tier.
Affliction Warlock

DoT oriented gameplay puts Affliction Warlock in a good spot in Midnight prepatch. The damage output alone has put Affliction into A tier.
Arcane Mage

Arcane Mage has been slightly tuned for Midnight prepatch. Arcane Mage has good utility, group buffs, and reliable bursts which puts this spec into A tier.
Havoc Demon Hunter

Although Havoc received some new abilities, most of its rotation remains unchanged. Already a strong spec, Havoc remains highly competitive in the Midnight prepatch.
Arms Warrior

Just like Fury Warrior, Arms Warrior didn’t lose anything significant in Midnight. While both warrior DPS specs remain competitive, Arms deals slightly less damage overall.
Shadow Priest

Shadow Priest has emerged as a strong option in the Midnight prepatch. While none of the changes were critical, overall tuning and reliable bursts have elevated SP to A tier.
Windwalker Monk

Although Windwalker Monk has lost some utility and versatility, the DPS doesn’t lie. Windwalker remains a strong DPS performer in the Midnight prepatch, solidifying its place in A tier on our tier list.
Beast Mastery Hunter

The Beast Mastery spec in Midnight has become even simpler, with fewer decisions, less versatility, and overall reduced complexity. Does it mean its damage output became less – no. BM Hunter is a great beginner friendly spec to go through Midnigh prepatch.
Frost Mage

Frost Mage remains a strong and enjoyable main in Midnight, especially for players who love consistent control, crisp burst windows, and satisfying crowd management.
Enhancement Shaman

Many players feel Enhancement Shaman in Midnight has been overly streamlined, making rotations more tunneled and reducing skill expression.
B-tier: Decent DPS in Midnight

These are decent specs to consider maining in Midnight prepatch.
Frost Death Knight

In terms of burst damage, Frost Death Knight is heavily outshined by Unholy. This doesn’t make Frost a bad choice, rather, Unholy is so overtuned that Frost comes across as the lesser option.
Elemental Shaman

In Midnight, Elemental Shaman poses a much smaller threat compared to its TWW days. Still, its bursts remain strong, making Elemental a reliable DPS option.
Marksmanship Hunter

Marksmanship Hunter in Midnight received only minor class changes. It’s the only Hunter spec that has seen mostly damage nerfs, which. We hope MM improves, but for now, consider BM Hunter, or even Survival if you have a well-geared weapon for them.
Retribution Paladin

Retribution Paladin in Midnight mostly stayed same apart some abilities removal. That’s why Retri is currently in B tier in terms of DPS.
Outlaw Rogue

Outlaw Rogue in Midnight prepatch is still not the best Rogue option. However the DPS is overall stronger compared to Assassination Rogue.
Feral Druid

Feral Druid in Midnight retains its bleed-centric melee gameplay, with core abilities like Rake, Rip, and Ferocious Bite remaining central. Overall Feral Druid DPS rankings haven’t changed much.
C-tier: DPS that didn’t change much

These specs currently struggle due to the lack of BiS or balancing issues. Their position is expected to change with full BiS or targeted buffs.
Demonology Warlock

In Midnight, Demonology Warlock has undergone numerous changes and currently doesn’t feel strong. The situation, however, is still better than that of Destruction Warlock.
Augmentation Evoker

Augmentation Evoker has always been a weird one due to its supportive nature. In Midnight, it hasn’t received a major overhaul, though core buffs like Ebon Might and Breath of Eons are now raid‑wide and easier to manage in both raids and dungeons, reducing the need for precise target setup.
Balance Druid

Balance Druid in Midnight features a reworked Eclipse system, letting players actively trigger a 15-second Eclipse instead of relying on passive flips. This change offers little benefit to Moonkins, placing them in C tier.
Devourer Demon Hunter

Devourer DH still has limited data due to the spec’s novelty, but overall player feedback is negative. Devourer will likely receive major tuning, but for now it remains in C tier.
D-tier: DPS specs that were better before

These specs currently struggle due to the lack of BiS or balancing issues. Their position is expected to change with full BiS or targeted buffs.
Fire Mage

Fire Mage feels weak in the Midnight prepatch and clearly needs DPS adjustments. Its situation is worsened by being outperformed by both Frost and Arcane Mage specs.
Assassination Rogue

Assassination Rogue underwent a bad rework in Midnight, leaving what could be a strong DPS kit weaker overall compared to other entries on our Midnight prepatch DPS tier list.
Destruction Warlock

Destruction Warlocks are facing a tough spot in the current prepatch. The class has been tuned for AoE damage, leaving it consistently outperformed by single-target DPS specs. Destruction needs dps tunings to improve its single-target performance. If you wish to be competetive respec to Affliction Warlock.
And that wraps up our Midnight prepatch tier list! Keep in mind, all tier lists are subjective. Everything in this DPS ranking will change as the Season progresses.

Devourer has its own special tier E! so disappointed in it
Well you got it right on BM, my golden retriever can play it.
This is some ChatGPT type shit, if I ever saw one. Tf is this list?
this article is crap
that must be the crappiest dps tier list on this planet. balance druid S tier? wtf are you guys smoking – lol
Hello! Thank you for your comment!
We are aware of the situation the Balance Druid is currently in regarding the spec’s performance in the raid.
Our tier list, however, is based on the class’s performance in Mythic+. There, Balance Druid feels way better. You are right, it is no longer an S-tier spec, but as rankings show, it is still a good one with a spot in the A-tier.
Currently, we are updating our tier list to show the situation in M+ after 4 weeks of Season 3.
Arcane mages are C tier yet they are the top performing prio damage spec, included in god comps. I don’t think Author actually plays WoW…. lmfao
Rip survival hunter
Guardian druids definetly A tier+
Not accurate! did you not look at the new updates?
we should all agree that tier lists in beta are…questionable. Things will change weekly until the final release build comes out. Unless the author wants to actually compare ingame data(not just community opinions) on a weekly basis go test for yourself and see how it feels. or just wait for release 🙂
j’avoue que placé le feral en bas hors qu’il fait plus de dégâts que l’arcane en mm+ actuellement sur la bêta joue t’il seulement a la bêta ?
So…Ele Shaman is the 5th best DPS and Resto Shaman is the best healer… yet Shaman is the worst ranked class??
Have you just not seen the shaman rework? Ele is competing with arcane in ST and is destroying the AOE meters. Stone bulwark totem has fixed their survivability also.
agreed. the top 5 and top 3s don’t even coincide with the list, actually contradicts the rankings.
