What is Cryo Archive
Cryo Archive is Marathon’s first endgame zone in Season 1. It features high-intensity, PvPvE activity similar to Destiny 2 raids. The gameplay loop for Cryo Archive looks like this: You and a team of three fight through a labyrinth of cryo chambers, security systems, and rival crews, building Security Clearance to unlock doors, access systems, and reach heavily guarded Vaults filled with top-tier loot.

Vault rewards
- High-tier containers with valuables, crafting materials, and top-end gear
- Unique gold weapons from special Vault lockers
- Rare items and keys not found in planet-side zones
Contract rewards
- Weekly Cryo contracts grant random high-rarity items
- Possible rewards include Vault Keys, locked room keys, materials, and gear
PvPvE loot
- Gear and valuables taken from defeated Runner crews
- Additional Vault Keys and rare items found during runs
Codex rewards (persistent progression)
- Exclusive cosmetics, including styles (skins) for all six Runner shells
- Progress carries over week-to-week
Special progression items
- Components tied to deeper Marathon secrets and hidden systems inside the ship
When Cryo Archive is available, a pool of seven unique Cryo contracts will appear. You can re-roll to share one active contract with your crew. Each completion removes it for the week, and all contracts reset when Cryo Archive returns next weekend.
