Plunderstorm May Become a Permanent Mode in WoW
Plunderstorm may become a permanent mode in WoW as the developers are considering keeping the pirate mayhem even after the event ends.
While controversial, Plunderstorm has undeniably brought a fresh wind of change to WoW. The game’s first-ever battle royale offers fast-paced matches lasting around 10-15 minutes. During this time, players have to gather abilities, spells, upgrades, and loot necessary for their survival. As developers continue refining Plunderstorm to make it more appealing, it seems they’re already planning to keep the mode running indefinitely, as long as the adventurers of Azeroth enjoy playing it.
WoW Developer Hints That Plunderstorm May Become a Permanent Mode
Last night, Orlando Salvatore, the lead engineer of the World of Warcraft team, disclosed some insights regarding Plunderstorm via his X account. According to Salvatore, the game developers tested the mode on various maps:
He also hinted that if players like this event, it will be expanded to other areas:
As per PCGamer, the event was originally slated to run for six weeks. With the potential addition of more maps, there’s a chance that the mode could surpass its intended limited duration and potentially transition into a permanent or regularly available feature of the game.
Players have been quick to suggest different options. Names like Westfall, the Grizzly Hills, and even Drustvar, have been the community’s popular choices. Many gamers also proposed new features to make the mode all the more engaging. And Salvatore agrees that some of these ideas seem promising.
