What Is Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest in WoW Cataclysm Classic

Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest is the best in slot weapon for casters in the game until the end of Cataclysm. It can only be earned and used by the Mage, Warlock, Priest, Druid, and Shaman classes.

The on-equip effects include increasing your Stamina, Intellect, hit rating, spell power, and haste rating, with an extra buff to Intellect from a socket bonus. The on-use Tarecgosa’s Visage spell transforms you into the blue dragon herself, and the item’s distinctive proc duplicates the harmful spell when you deal damage. It doesn’t have any internal cooldown and can also copy DoTs, with the duplicated spell functioning as if you cast it, able to trigger various procs.

Legendary Engagement Quest Guide

To kick off the Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest quest line, you must fulfill one of the two requirements:

1. Take down a Molten Lord and complete “Your Time Has Come.“
2. Complete the Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, and Throne of the Four Winds raids and earn the respective final achievements.

Once done with either of those, take the quest “A Legendary Engagement” by speaking to:

• Alliance: Coridormi in the Wizard’s Sanctum of Stormwind City.
• Horde: Ziradormi in Grommash Hold.

Gain 25 Eternal Embers and 3 Sands of Time.

To gather Sands of Time, use a portal to Uldum, reach the far northwest corner, and buy the needed components from Yasmin for 9,000 gold. You can also get them from Big Keech in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

For Eternal Embers, farm Firelands raid bosses, with an 80% chance for each to drop at least one and up to 3 pieces for a 25-man group. These items come in stacks, and only one player can collect them when multiple pieces drop. Also, careful loot distribution is crucial as these items cannot be traded between group members.

At last, try not to defeat Shannox, Beth’tilac, Alysrazor, and Rhyolith in your final run, as they’re needed for the “Delegation.“

It’s important to note that in Cataclysm Classic, all raid-involving quests cannot be soloed, so farming has to be done in a full group. Typically, guilds pre-determine who will be the first to receive the legendary, and others assist in the process. 

On a Wing and a Prayer Quest Guide

Get back to Anachronos to hand in what you have collected. Then, transport the Timeless Eye to Coldarra, where you’ll encounter Tarecgosa of the Blue Dragonflight and watch another clip.

Through a Glass, Darkly Quest Guide

Together with Tarecgosa, travel to the Nexus where you’ll fight several mobs and the Thyrinar dragon. 

Actionable Intelligence Quest Guide

Once you’ve claimed your victory, one more cutscene will play. Then, the blue dragon will direct you to Mount Hyjal to talk to Kalecgos.

Delegation Quest Guide

This one features multiple subtasks that require running the Firelands instance several times to complete.

Your main goal is accessing Anvil of Conflagration to obtain the Branch of Nordrassil. To enter the zone, you must gain and charge four Focus items. Charging involves performing specific actions with the four raid bosses we’ve mentioned above. If you’ve already conquered them, wait until the weekly raid reset. If any or all the bosses are still alive, you can proceed with the task right away.

Beth’tilac

Defeat Cinderweb Drones for Chitinous Fragments. Collect three of those and convert them into a dull Focus in your inventory. Then, ascend to the Beth’tilac platform, and as the boss readies her Smoldering Devastation, position the dull Focus on the ground. Retrieve the powered item after the cast.

Rhyolith

Search the room’s edges for Rhyolite Fragments and merge three of them into a Dull Rhyolite Focus. Next up, move close to Rhyolith and place the Focus beneath its feet just before it casts Concussive Stomp. The boss will power up the item, and all that’s left for you is to retrieve it.

Shannox

To craft the dull Focus, gather and merge Emberstone Fragments found at the location of shattered Crystal Prison Traps. Place the item at the spot marked by a red marker where the Hurl Spear attack will be aimed. Stay close to Riplimb, as the cast always happens nearby. Once Shannox performs the attack, the Focus will be charged. 

Alysrazor

To make the dull Focus, collect three Pyreshell Fragments by defeating bird mobs that hatch from eggs. Get ready to go through two full phases because the Focus needs to be placed only in Phase 3 before Alysrazor hits Full Power. Once done, take your charged Focus, and let’s move to the quest’s final part.

It’s important to not defeat any bosses during the encounters. This strategy, while seemingly troublesome, saves tons of time in the future. After obtaining the charged Focus, just cause a wipe and proceed to the next part.

The Anvil of Conflagration

Once in possession of all charged items, head to the Path of Corruption near Beth’tilac’s zone. Run up to the Circle of Thorns and use your Foci to create a portal.

Here, you’ll have to go through a three-phase fight. Here’s a quick overview for you to have a general idea of what to expect:

• Phase 1: Ensure you kick the Harbinger of Flame casts. Without their spells, these mobs pose no threat, and you can easily deal with them.
• Phase 2: When fighting the Tormented Protector, wait for the Blazing Stomp cast and only then get rid of Smoldering Roots to avoid knockbacks. Position your group closer to the arena’s edges and have ranged DPS handle the Burning Treant.
• In Phase 3, get ready to take a lot of damage and take down Volcanus.

When finished, grab the Branch of Nordrassil and make your way to Amber Ledge in the Borean Tundra.

Nordrassil’s Bough Quest Guide

The Branch of Nordrassil, the staff’s initial form, is now yours. 

Emergency Extraction Quest Guide

Accompany Kalecgos to Coldarra to rescue Tarecgosa. Watch the clip and move on to the next assignment.

At One Quest Guide

Agree to Kalecgos’ proposal to bond you with Tarecgosa’s Essence. Once the ritual is over, talk to Kalecgos again for your next assignment.

Time Grows Short Quest Guide

This sends you after 1000 Seething Cinders, obtainable in stacks from Firelands bosses. If you still have them alive, there’s no need to wait until your raid lock resets.

Return to Firelands with your group and do the farming. Here are the approximate item drops:

• 10-man: 20-21 on Normal (7-8 full runs) and 25 on Heroic (6-7 full runs)
• 25-man: 50 on Normal (3 full runs) and 60-65 on Heroic (2 full runs + 2/3 bosses).

Once done, head back to Coldarra and bring your findings to Kalecgos.

Alignment Quest Guide

Grab the second power level upgrade for your legendary staff. 

Heart of Flame Guest Guide

This is the final collection task in the chain, requiring you to gather 250 Smoldering Essences and the Heart of Flame.

Siphon Essences with your Runestaff from all defeated bosses in the Firelands, excluding Ragnaros. Multiple raid runs will be necessary as the drops range from 3-9 pieces on Normal and 6-11 on Heroic. 

Next up, you’ll need to extract the Heart of Flame from Ragnaros. On a Normal run, you’ll need to handle the Rage of Ragnaros effect by staying away from the group to avoid knockbacks and damage to your allies. On Heroic, you can just finish the encounter without extra challenges. Grab the Heart of Flame from the lava pool when Ragnaros’s down and return to your faction’s capital to hand over the collected items to Hallegosa.
