Riot Games has recently revealed exciting updates for League of Legends. In the latest video diary, the two developers announced a new game mode as well as the return of Clash in Season 13.

THE ARRIVAL OF LOL SEASON 13 NEW GAME MODE

A 2v2v2v2 arcade-inspired mode is on the way. It includes several death match-style rounds, with champions gradually gaining power throughout the game. Teams that lose too many rounds will be eliminated, allowing players to quickly queue up and jump back into the action.

There will be augments for the champions. They offer players the ability to alter their champion’s capabilities, resulting in gameplay variation from match to match. The augments will be presented as a set of three, and players will be able to choose one to enhance their champion. Examples of augments showcased include granting bonus attack range and automatically casting other champion skills at intervals.

The has-yet-to-be-named mode will also feature a new map for League of Legends. It will be available for a limited time, similar to the popular Nexus Blitz.

Riot hopes to create a fast-paced, arcadey feel to this mode and reduce the respawning time, allowing players to jump back into the action as soon as possible.

THE RETURN OF CLASH

Clash is a prevalent team-based tournament game mode. It has been a fan-favorite among players of all levels since its launch in February 2020.

Players must form a team of at least five people. The teammates can be their friends or any player in the area. Next, they need to register for the competition in their area during the registration period.

Once everything is settled, a scouting period will take place. Usually, it lasts for a few days, during which the teams spend studying their opponents.

HOW DOES THE TOURNAMENT WORK?

The League of Legends Clash tournament is typically held on weekends and features multiple rounds of play. The single-elimination bracket is the most popular among the tournament formats available. During each match, teams compete against each other. The victorious ones then advance to the next round. The champion will be the last team standing.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN SEASON 13?

Riot plans to release the new game mode for experimental play in the summer, with the features subject to change as it is still in development.

There has yet to be any information on Clash’s return date. But the developers hope to make the mode available worldwide by March. which is later than usual. Usually, it debuts in February. But the release was delayed due to a social engineering attack. It will be the first time Clash is available in the SEA region. So, the developers encourage SEA players to stay tuned for more information.

ARAM will also return soon, although the exact date has yet to be announced. The developers have decided to focus on Clash and the new mode. Thus, other rotating ones like URF, ARURF, and Book of Spells will not be available until the latter half of 2023.
