Russell Brower, WoW Composer Now Works for Tarisland
Russell Brower, the legendary composer of WoW, Diablo, StarCraft, Hearthstone, and more, will now lend his talents to Tarisland.
Russell Brower is a composer, musical director, and conductor. With three prestigious Emmy Awards under his belt, he worked as a Senior Director of Audio and Lead Composer at Blizzard. He was the one who shaped the sounds for major franchises of the giant gaming company. Some can be named are World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Overwatch, Starcraft II, and Hearthstone. His extensive career is decorated with many memorable soundtracks. Some of his most iconic masterpieces are “Invincible” from WotLK, and Batman: The Animated Series (1992).
Despite having worked at Blizzard for over a decade, there was a fallout between Brower and the company back in 2017. He parted ways with Blizzard, though still remained as their freelancer. However, he wasn’t included in any project after that. In 2019, responding to fans on Twitter, the former WoW composer mentioned there is “zero chance” for them to hear his work in said MMORPG title again. And now, in 2023, fans have the opportunity to immerse themselves in his musical creations once more. This time, within the realm of Tarisland.
Tarisland is a Chinese MMORPG. It has drawn criticism for being a WoW clone, sharing numerous elements with World of Warcraft. The game was initially expected to fade in the competitive gaming landscape. Yet, it surprised the community by successfully concluding a closed beta test on July 4. Now, both the title and its fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming closed beta test in November.
As a WoW clone, Tarisland undoubtedly faces low expectations. However, with Brower entering the scene, fans are in for a symphony of exceptional soundtracks to come. As revealed on the official website, Brower’s music is set to be the soul of the Tarisland experience. His works will echo throughout the game and enchant the ears of its players.
