Warcraft I and Warcraft II are getting removed from GOG
GOG announced that Warcraft and Warcraft 2 will be removed from the store on December 13, 2024. Here is everything we know about the future support of these games from the company.

Recently, GOG officially announced that both Warcraft I and Warcraft II are being removed from the store. The company noted that this is being done due to the publisher’s request. Since all three Warcraft games received significant updates after Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, this change is not a big surprise. GOG team also mentioned that it plans to continue supporting previously purchased game copies. This means that those who have already bought Warcraft I & II from Good Old Games can still rely on the company’s support in the future. This includes help with current and future PC configurations conflicts with games. This is an important statement, considering GOG announced the new preservation program for some older games a few weeks prior.

The company struggles to accept such a loss easily since it has worked hard to improve these games for a long time. Before the remastered versions became available, GOG managed to add many useful features, including LAN multiplayer support and improved graphics. Now, Warcraft I and Warcraft II are being removed from the store, and it feels like losing an old friend.
This news left many people heartbroken. The community understands that Blizzard invested in Warcraft I & II Remasters, but prohibiting vanilla versions from further selling feels like enforcement for many players. The gaming community is almost entirely against such actions from Blizzard and calls them predatory. Many gamers want to embrace the preservation values among developers and distributors and not the opposite. One thing is known for sure: many people are thankful and appreciate the GOG team for keeping Warcraft I and Warcraft II running for so many years prior.
