TLoZ: Tears of the Kingdom First 10-Minute Gameplay Demo

UPDATE
Here it is, folks! The 10-minute gameplay has arrived. For those who have yet the time to watch the full video, we’ve compiled all the most important highlights for you right below.
NEW ZONE

- You will notice floating land masses all over the sky of Hyrule. These are the Sky Islands
- Covered in gold-leafed trees, the islands differentiate themselves from the landscape down below
- There are a lot of ways to get there. One of which is using the “Rewind” ability to retrace a fallen rock’s trajectory
NEW ABILITIES AND MECHANICS
- Rewind: rewind an object’s movement
- Fuse: you can literally fuse everything together. Some of the handiest combinations are:
- Weapon + object: this is especially convenient when your weapons are on the brink of breaking. By fusing with an object, you can improve both the damage output and prolong a weapon’s lifespan
- Weapon + weapon: in the 10-minute footage, Aonuma showed us an example of this by fusing a long stick with a pitchfork, creating a new kind of make-shift weapon with range so long that the enemy has fallen to pieces before you even get near them
- Shield + materials in your inventory: Aonuma forged a puffshroom shield. The particular shield emits a burst of smoke when used to block an enemy’s attack, obscuring their vision and allowing you to easily land a sneakstrike
- Arrow + materials in your inventory: there are endless possibilities of what you can combine together and the effect they will bear.
- Fusing an arrow with White Chuchu Jelly will create the same effect as an ice arrow
- Combining an arrow with Keese Eyeball will create a tracking arrow
- Ultrahand: attach and detach objects. For example: constructing a raft by sticking logs together with propellers
- Ascend: go through ceilings to the floor above. When using the ability in a cave, you’ll get straight to the top of the mountain without having to climb like back in BotW
NEW ENEMIES

- The new type of enemy is called Construct
- They also use fused weapons with different abilities
OTHERS
- Apparently, the theory about two Links seems down the drain. The supposed-to-be “past” Link is now running the ground of Hyrule and traveling on Sky Islands at the same time. It’s just a personal theory, but maybe quite some time has passed ever since Link lost Zelda down that chasm. What he’s wearing now might be a Zonai’s attire
- The Zonai’s influence is confirmed with the enemy dropping “Zonai Charge”

There are still many things Aonuma wants to show us, but he decided to leave it like that for now. Despite the short showcase, fans have already seen the endless hours they are going to spend in this game to test out all the innovations and experimentations that popped out in their head the moment they saw what’s possible in the latest Zelda addition.
ORIGINAL POST
Nintendo has recently announced a 10-minute gameplay for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). The hyping Breath of the Wild (BotW) sequel’s demo will be led by no other than series producer Eiji Aonuma. It will be available on YouTube on March 28 at 10:00 AM (ET) or 7:00 AM (PST).

We are just a bit more than a month away from TotK release on May 12. Fans have been craving more information about the new mechanics, story, and mysteries. The gameplay demo is expected to answer many of the burning questions. One of which is the decrepit state of the Master Sword and how it will factor into the game’s storyline. Another is Link’s cursed arm origin and the power it holds. What has happened to Zelda? And let’s not forget about the role of Ganondorf and the reason for his imprisonment underneath Hyrule’s castle. And, last but not least, the potential loop of the Zelda timeline that may condemn our main protagonists and antagonist in a perpetual battle for eternity.
The first information about TotK was teased back in 2019. However, aside from ambiguous trailers and a leaked art book, there has been little for the franchise to go by since then. The semi-blackout has led some fans to worry that TotK may be more of a DLC of BotW than an independent game of itself. Yet, the community is now more restless than ever, as Aonuma has hinted:

Given BotW’s enormous impact on the gaming industry ever since its release, the series lovers’ expectation is at an all-time high without a doubt. Thus, more speculations arise and are spreading like wildfire. Fans are hoping that this will be the opportunity to see how all of their hopes and dreams pan out.

Don’t miss out on this chance to catch a glimpse at a rebirthed Hyrule after 100 years of contamination by Ganon’s blight. The wait is almost over, and it’s time to get excited for the next chapter in the beloved Legend of Zelda series.
