Game Awards 2022: GOTY Announced and More

In response to players’ anticipations worldwide, the Game Awards 2022 has taken place. It brought well-deserved recognition to the most outstanding candidates of the year.


Surpassing the other giants in the nominee list of GOTY, Elden Ring has taken the crown and become the victor.

Hidetaka Miyazaki expressed gratitude towards From Software’s developers and publishers in his speech. He also mentioned the hard work of author George R.R. Martin. The director was also grateful for the fans’ support. He revealed that they still have more plans and ideas for the title in the future.

Besides being the coveted GOTY, this year’s champion was nominated in seven other categories and won in three. Check for more details at the end of this article.


Though missing the chance of being the king of 2022, God of War: Ragnarok still put up a great contest against the 2022 GOTY champion. It dominated the ceremony with 10 nominations and won in six categories.

Horizon Forbidden West closely followed with seven nominations.

Great news for cat lovers in general and Stray in particular. The production featured six nominations. It even won Best Indie and Best Debut Indie.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was a nominee in five categories. Unfortunately, victory was not within reach.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was nominated in three categories but couldn’t surpass the others in the list.

On a side note, the Most Anticipated Game is the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
