The Beast in the Ice bug: How to lose your Distilled Fear easily
Encountered the Beast in the Ice bug after committing your Distilled Fear resources at the Frozen Altar? Well, you’re not alone!
With new updates often come bugs, and Redditor Onsokomaru proved this fact once again, warning fellow players with the following: Once you summon the Beast in the Ice, one of the Diablo 4 Tormented bosses, there’s a risk it won’t get summoned, consuming all the respected Distilled Fear materials.
It’s not a common issue, but unfortunately, Onsokomaru isn’t the only one affected. Some players on the official Diablo 4 forums have reported similar problems:
Did it start after Blizzard made altars reusable in Season 5, so you no longer have to reset dungeons? No one knows for sure. However, there’s a solution to save your nerve cells, even though we don’t recommend summoning the boss until the fix is implemented:
When the bug is active, the frozen corpses around the circle Altar room won’t respawn, and if you commit your resources, the Beast won’t appear, leading to re-entering the dungeon. Some players suggest checking the Frozen Altar: if it looks dull, gray, or black, you’re safe. However, if there are ashes or if it’s red or smoky, there’s a problem.
Blizzard still hasn’t addressed this issue, even though people have reported it for several months. For instance, popular YouTuber Wudijo experienced the bug himself while trying to summon the Beast. What’s funny is that a recent comment from one of his viewers noted that the problem is still ongoing.
While this annoying bug isn’t a “top priority” since players have found a workaround, we still hope Blizzard will fix it soon. Have you encountered it yourself, by the way? Let us know in the comments!
