Dataminers Found Halo’s Captain Keyes in Destiny Alpha Files
Despite being around for years, Destiny remains a strong magnet for both seasoned and novice gamers. Thus, fans are more than excited to uncover every facet of the title. Hence, recently, dataminers have stumbled upon the unused voice lines intended for Ghost in the Destiny First Look Alpha build. What makes them intriguing is that they seem to belong to Pete Stacker. Other known as Captain Keyes’s voice actor in the Halo series.
Dated back to June 2014, the recently unearthed files make no explicit mention of Stacker as the voiceover artist. Still, the distinct vocal patterns found share an undeniable similarity with his portrayal of Keyes in the Halo series. Perhaps Bungie may have initially considered using Stacker for the role of Ghost. Or maybe this was just some kind of experimentation on their part. Regardless of the reason, this revelation offers a rare glimpse into the early developmental phases of Destiny — an opportunity to witness the creative process of video game production firsthand.
Fast-forward to the present day, Lightfall is going stronger than ever despite some hiccups on release. In an impressive feat, Bungie has announced that the latest DLC has exceeded expectations for expansion releases. And as if that’s not enough, it also attained an all-time peak for concurrent players on Steam.
Looking ahead to the future of Destiny 2, the much-anticipated Guardian Games event looms on the horizon. Closely follows is the Season of the Deep. Oh, well… It would be cool to be able to change the voice of our dear friend Ghost. Just imagine him with the voice of the Master Chief or Isaac from Dead Space. Or maybe even female voices, like Lara Croft or Cortana? That would be mega cool!
