Set for November 13, 2008, the latest expansion of the renowned massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, will be available in both standard and Collector’s editions.
WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Release Date
Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. has confirmed the release dates for various regions:
- November 13 in North America, Europe, and several South American countries.
- November 14 in Australasia and parts of Southeast Asia.
- November 18 in Korea and select East Asian regions.
- The release date for China will be announced later.

Explore the Frozen Continent
This expansion takes players to the chilling continent of Northrend, the domain of the Lich King Arthas Menethil. Players will confront the undead armies across diverse landscapes, culminating at the Icecrown Glacier. The expansion raises the level cap to 80, introduces the Death Knight Hero class, and adds new dungeons, zones, and features like an achievement system and expanded PvP combat options.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King will be offered in two packages for Windows XP/Windows Vista and Machintosh on DVD-ROM: a standard edition, priced at $39.99, and a special Collector’s Edition (available in select regions) priced at $69.99. The Collector’s Edition includes:
- The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book showcasing never-before-seen game art.
- An exclusive in-game companion: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm.
- A behind-the-scenes DVD featuring over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director’s commentary, and more.
- The official soundtrack CD, containing 21 epic tracks from the game, along with exclusive bonus tracks.
- A mouse pad displaying a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend.
- Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion starter decks, including two exclusive cards exclusive to the Collector’s Edition.
Wrath of the Lich King requires the base World of Warcraft game and The Burning Crusade expansion, which are available separately or as part of the World of Warcraft Battle Chest. The expansion has been rated Teen by the ESRB.

World of Warcraft’s subscription definition includes paid subscriptions, active prepaid cards, and players in their initial free month. It excludes promotional, expired, or canceled subscriptions and expired prepaid cards. The definition applies globally, including in licensee territories.
