Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Leak: Massive Upcoming Changes

Destiny 2 players are in for some surprising news. There are indications from leaked information that the upcoming “Season of the Deep” will bring about substantial alterations to the game and its system. It’s anticipated to be released sometime near the end of May this year.

Remember to read this article with a grain of salt. As nothing is set in stone unless there is an official confirmation from Bungie.

Returning to the Saturn’s Moon

Update: It’s confirmed!

Much rumor and speculation have been surrounding the possibility of the Guardians’ returning to Titan. After all, Bungie removed the Saturnian moon from the game some time ago. It’ll be a pleasant surprise to have it once again introduced in the FPS title.

Power System Overhaul

The leaks also suggest a massive overhaul to the Destiny 2 Power system. Evidence about whether the said update is slated to come in Season 21 has yet to surface. However, it doesn’t stop the Internet from digging out how it’ll operate.

Season 21 Weapons Leaked and Incoming Changes

Update: Bungie has confirmed these leaks to be accurate. However, you won’t have to wait until Season 21 to experience the changes. Instead, the firearms are in line to receive a mid-season 20 buff.

Salvations Grip: charged shot from six crystals. Uncharged shot shoots a normal grenade that shatters crystals.

Eyes of Tomorrow: defeating 4 targets in one volley refunds 1 ammo.

Graviton Lance: increased rate of fire to match Revision Zero two-burst (20% decrease to burst delay). Difference in damage between the two bullets is reduced.

Tommy’s Matchbook: the catalyst is updated- while overheated, sustained fire scorches targets. Every 5 shots applies 14 (+7) scorch.

Worldline Zero: Tesseract can be chained into itself once. Damage slightly reduced.

Vesper of Radius: rifts now emit an arc shockwave every 3 seconds that deals 200 PvE and 70 PvP damage. If these shockwaves defeat an enemy, they explode on a delay for 100 damage. When running Stormcaller, both of these effects afflict blind.

Chromatic Fire: precision final blows with your Kinetic weapon create an explosion that damages and applies status effects in the element of your subclass.

Dawn Chorus: Daybreak projectiles cause targets to scorch on contact and deal increased damage to scorched targets.

Ophidian Aspect: removed melee range extension.

Astrocyte Verse: blink further and more frequently leaving behind a burst of Void damage that also suppresses.

Sanguine Alchemy: gives a small damage bonus to weapons that match your subclass when standing in a rift.

Claws of Ahamkara: powered melee takedowns spawn an orb of power.

Mantle of Battle Harmony: change to a non-stacking damage buff.

Dunemarchers: reduced chain damage range from 20m to 12m. Reduced chain PvP damage from 85 to 50.

Point Contact Cannon Brace: strikes added by this exotic now jolt targets as well. PvE damage from 50 to 200. Being amplified now increases the damage of the lightning strikes by 50%. Amplified no longer increases the range of lightning strikes.

Second Chance: gain a second Shield Throw charge, which will now weaken. When stunning a barrier champion with Shield Throw, regain the charge.

Stronghold: after blocking damage with the sword, gain restoration on damaging an enemy.

Eternal Warrior: Arc takedowns grant an escalating bonus to arc weapon damage. After Fist of Havoc ends, gain the highest bonus to arc weapon damage.

Khepri’s Horn: Solar takedowns recharge your barricade, the solar blast from it now scorches enemies.

Path of Burning Steps: no longer stacks with Surge mods.

Sealed Ahamkara Grasps: powered melee takedowns reload the magazine of all weapons matching your subclass. While the buff is active, increased movement speed and jump height.

Raiju’s Harness: deactivating your super creates a blinding explosion and grants a buff that increases arc weapon damage. 5% in PvP, 15% for PvE.

Arthrys’ Embrace: rapid precision hits grant Weighted Knife energy.

Oathkeeper: the longer an arrow is drawn, the more damage it will do (PvE only).

Stomp335: bonus only active with full dodge energy. Remove the AE penalty.

Radiant Dance Machines: takedowns extend the duration of this effect.

Mask of Bakris: increases the damage bonus in PvE from 10% to 25% and a slight buff to PvP that grants it a 7% buff when it didn’t before. No longer stacks with Surge mods.

Auto rifles +25%, pulse/sidearm/hand cannon +20%, scout rifle +10%. Values are damage against minors and majors (red and orange bars).

Aggressive SMG base damage reduced from 15 to 14, crit multiplier increased from 1.45 to 1.5 (crit damage from 21.8 to 21).

Rapid fire fusions will have burst damage increased by 15 (245-260 per burst, 27.2 to 28.9)

Trace rifles gain a 4% damage buff (12 to 12.5). Reduced crit multiplier from 1.4x to 1.35x (crit damage from 16.6 to 16.9). Unflinching effect of stability boosted by 10% at 100 (less of a buff with lower stability)

All sniper archetypes are gaining a 10% PvE damage buff (but not for Honed Edge shots). Rapid fire snipers will have recoil reduced by 50% and total ammunition increased by 30%.

Tarrabah: reduced Ravenous Beast energy on taking damage from 3% to 1%. Reduced zoom from 16 to 15.

Trials is getting an arc adaptive glaive. Its perks: Rampage/Surrounded/Vorpal/Frenzy/Impulse Amplifier/Unstoppable Force/Close to Melee, ALH/Feeding Frenzy/Subsistence/Tilting at Windmills/Shot Swap/Feedback Shield/Thresh

Dungeon is getting a Stasis wave frame breach launcher, Solar rapid fire glaive (edge of concurrence), Solar aggressive SMG, Stasis aggressive rocket launcher. Dungeon origin trait is Restoration Ritual — reviving allies or defeating enemies with finishers reloads this weapon and readies an emergency reload for the next time this weapon runs out of ammo.

Bonus: ALH/Feeding Frenzy/Subsistence/Tilting at Windmills/Shot Swap/Feedback Shield/Thresh.

Exotics

From the credible Liz:

  • Helm is somewhat customizable
  • The three classes will receive their respective Exotics. Warlock: helm, Titan: chest, Hunter: arms
  • Strand Trace:
    • Shooting an ally Guardian gives you and the ally woven mail
    • Shooting an enemy severs them
  • Stasis Scout:
    • Headshots apply slow/freeze
  • Arc Autorifle:
    • Charge up the gun, every bullet after the charge is arc lightning

Dungeon

Despite Bungie’s efforts to keep their lips sealed, the Destiny 2 community still has its way to knowing the [Redacted] dungeon will be called Ghosts of the Deep“.

In addition to the revelations surrounding Strand Exotic Trace, Arc Exotic Autorifle, and Stasis Exotic Scout, Season 21 brings an exciting new feature for Guardians. You can now find solace away from the chaos of battle through the serene art of fishing. The fish you catch during your peaceful excursions can become your companions.

Speaking about underwater creatures, you will have the opportunity to closely witness the infamous Leviathan within the confines of a submarine.

An exciting 3-player activity is on the horizon, accompanied by a plethora of engaging Seasonal Activities and intriguing quests to obtain new Light Exotic Armor.

And as we all know, captain Zavala will still be played by Lance Reddick. Bungie confirmed that his voice lines are fully recorded for future projects.

A Starfire ornament is also on the way.
