Bungie’s $6.7 Million Lawsuit Against Cheaters in Destiny 2

In a move to protect the integrity of Destiny 2 and its player base, Bungie has filed a $6.7 million lawsuit against LaviCheats. This entity is a provider of undetectable cheating technologies for various titles.

From Elden Ring to Call of Duty, Overwatch, and many others, LaviCheats offers cheating technologies for them all. However, their days of waging in the games have come to an end. Bungie’s legal team is in for a $6.7 million lawsuit against LaviCheats. If the Destiny 2 developers won the case, LaviCheats would need to pay at least $2,000 per each of the 2,790 software downloads the entity has provided via their website.

IT’S NOT THE FIRST TIME THE US FIRM HAS TAKEN LEGAL ACTION TO PUT A STOP TO CHEATERS

They have previously sued Elite Boss Tech and taken down the cheat seller. The software creator ended up having to cough up a sum of $13.5 million for over 6,765 times their tech was used. The studio once also joined hands with Riot to end GatorCheats’ reign in 2020. In the end, the case was settled with an injunction. However, it’s clear that the battle against cheaters remains a high priority. The company is committed to ensuring that players continue to enjoy the game legitimately and without the use of exploitative tools. After all, it can ruin other players’ experience and undermine the game’s integrity.

As the Destiny 2 community is about to welcome Lightfall this February 28, Bungie’s message to cheaters is clear: their activities will not be tolerated. The outcome of the lawsuit remains uncertain. After all, cases like this take years to finally conclude. However, it highlights the ongoing battle against cheating in online gaming and underlines Bungie’s strict attitude toward the said issue.
